Is the Logic 7 the same as the Premium Sound System?

1K - 7 bars
2K - 3 bars
5K - 5 bars
10K - 8 bars

Herc,

Just to clarify, I have iDrive and when you have - 5, -4, etc...your not saying bring those down below the mid or flat line, those are increases above?

We tend to listen to similar music (ie Sirius Area 33 all time) and I wanted to try your settings. I agree I too love the Logic 7!!

Just wished I could get my service center to agree I have a problem and fix it. I can hear my speakers in the middle of car (behind the drivers/passengers seat) come on and then go off (off 98% of the time) intermittently while listening to music. This started almost a year ago and still sounds good, but not as full as it used to when I took delivery of the car. The odd thing is that this mostly happens only when listening to satellite radio.

X5FX is correct, those are positive values. I should edit the post to make it more obvious.

Hey that's interesting... is this for IDrive/e92 only?? I haven't seen this option on mine (e90, no IDrive). I have music mode vs cinema vs stock.

I see. So does that mean that "surround sound" is only available with iDrive? That doesn't make sense. I'm sure that's not the case, but it was confusing to see it named differently, meaning 328=Music/Cinema modes vs 335=Concert Hall/Theater modes. Weird.

Thanks. I was asking about the surround sound option setting only, not Logic7 as a whole.

Excellent thread, I'm sure I'll need these numbers when I get mine! Not too far off from where I've got mine on my current 325i.

335 doesn't have 80k, but rather 100k in the eq frequencies. Minor detail, but nonetheless a detail...

Let me know what you think after trying it and if you have even better suggestions!!!! I figure the next best thing to driving a Bavarian Motorwerks creation is to drive enveloped in the best sound possible.

The following are settings I have currently are all positive settings (to the "right-of-center" when adjusting the parameters on the radio - I have no I-drive):

80 - 4 bars
200 - 6 bars
500 - 7 bars
1K - 6 bars
2K - 5 bars
5K - 5 bars
10K - 3 bars

Bass - 2 (to the right)
Treble - 5 (to the right)

w/ the "fader" set one bar to the rear.

seemingly funny curve if you drew it out, but it works best with all kinds of music I find. Better than Flat.

But please, any suggestions would be fantastic!!!!! Oh, and if anyone wants to turn this into a sticky, feel free to copy and paste.
I heartily endorse these settings!

It is soooo much better than being a flatliner. I'm really digging my L7 now.

That's pretty much how mine is setup as well.

milehigh... did you not try the settings I listed in post #3 above? Click POST #3 to see them.

If the bass is too high for you with these settings, just move the 80 & 200 bars down a notch, and maybe even the master bass setting from +4 to +3. (Actually I currently have my master bass setting at +5).

Crank this and cruise, brotha

Can't wait 'till I get mine so that I can mess with it. Being a sound engineer I'm usually really picky when it comes to car audio since sound reproduction in cars is usually terrible, but a buddies 545i w/ logic 7 sounds pretty impressive for being a stock system. The bass response is VERY tight and can get to those low frequencies pretty accurately as well. The highs are not too harsh, and the mids are pretty warm as well. Is the E92'S Logic 7 similar to that of the E60 5 series? I'll make sure to report what I find when I get my E92. I have to say though, a properly designed aftermarket system is pretty hard to beat, but I can't see myself hacking up the 335 like i've done to other cars.

I loved my previous Pioner Premier headunit - full EQ control and it came with a micro phone so you could analyze the sound and adjust the EQ to fill in the gaps (much better than trying to figure it out freehand).

I tried your EQ settings, and they were nice, but I prefer a slightly more dynamic sound (I listen to NPR and also more 'artificial' music). One question - each EQ setting is relative to the next, so if you raise all of them +1, then you have not really done anything, correct?

Here is my range:
80 +6 bars
200 +7 bars
500 +5 bars
1K 0 bars
2K +1 bar
5K +2 bars
10K +3 bars

Bass +5 (to the right)
Treble +3 (to the right)

Fader 1 to rear

I am still trying to get the bass the thump more without it becoming too diffuse. Should not be too hard with dual 8 in subs, rather than using something like 12 or 15 in subs.

Can someone please advise what the #'s stands for?

For example 5k or 10k = bass. And which ones are for midrange etc...

Thanks guys!

Just want to understand, that way I can play with my eq settings.

^^ The numbers are the frequency (in Hz) you are adjusting. Presumably, they represent the start or middle of a range of frequencies. This is just a graphic equalizer, if you're familiar with them.

The lower numbers are lower frequencies and the higher numbers are the higher frequencies. The bass is on the left, mids are in the middle, treble on the right. As a general rule, you could describe bass as 600Hz and below, mids are 600Hz to 6kHz, and highs are 6kHz and above. Humans with good hearing generally can hear in the range of 20Hz to 20kHz.

Here's an idea. Just turn each one all the way down then start going up that way you will really hear what it does and not just copy someone else's.
