This is the thread that we'll use for tracking the 3 ships coming to California: They are CASSIOPEIA LEADER, JUPITER DIAMOND and RYUJIN.

All posts dealing with any of these three ships can go here rather than all of my and USAF's other threads.

I went to my dealer and ran both my Production Order Number and SCBlackSunshine's number.

I could not find out any information. They still show us waiting.

They DID say that there really aren't any updates on weekends, so the info regarding the cars shipped on Saturday may not be in the BMW computer for a few days.

I tried. Sorry.

Thanks for running the production number for me. I think in this case, the comp should updated by Tuesday. I was thinking on Monday, one of us should call NYK and ask them if the car is on either Cassiopedia or Jupiter Diamond. I remember reading some thread, someone actually called the NYK in New jersey office and got an accurate ETA date and ship name. Maybe we can give that a try?

The weekend lag is a true fact. I'd been calling the 800-number checking on my car every other day or so since my production week (and I thought I was being compulsive, until I checked this board and found out I'm downright lax compared to others.)

Anyway, after listening to "waiting for transport" for a couple of days, I asked my CA on Friday, and he checked Friday and Saturday and Monday for me (the 14th, 15th and 17th). On all 3 days he reported no luck. I had been doing pretty well with the wait until then, but then I kinda hit rock bottom, wishing I had just gone with an X5 on the lot (but noooooo, I had to have something with limited availability).

On Tuesday I didn't check. On Wednesday he is off. And on Thursday he reported the ship had sailed on the 15th, with my car on it.

Hopefully the same will be true for you guys!

SC, if you give me your Vin Number (I already have your Production Number) I will call NYK tomorrow morning and ask about BOTH of our cars.

Send me a PRIVATE MESSAGE if you don't want to put the VIN in this public area.

And, if you want to give me your direct email address at the same time, I will just use regular email. It's a lot easier and quicker.

ok Larry, I just PM you my Vin# and my email address, let me know what you find out when you call NYK. Hopefully NYK is still scheduling the ship to come in on 5/16

Anyway, I think Larry checked with NYK and waiting for a callback from them to confirm status. Hopefully he'll hear something back, otherwise we're at the mercy of BMW's ultra fast update

Hey all:

Called NYK and they told me that unless we have a Bill of Lading Number, they can't tell us whether our cars are on any of their ships. The Production Number and VIN Number will NOT work for them.

And, I was told the dealer will get that info when the car is on the ship. So, what else is new. As soon as the dealer gets that info, we will no longer have to call NYK, because we will KNOW it's on a ship....

Oh well. I tried.

I'll call my dealer tomorrow. I figure it might take a day or two to put all the shipping data in the computer after the weekend.

Welcome to the informational Black Hole of West Coast delivery. I guess BMW is getting a better deal from NYK because WW ships come to California from Germany all the time. WW has great tracking for East Coasters.

Thanks for the help Larry. I got good news, my dealer just left a message for me at home stating my car is on the Jupiter Diamond and will be arriving on 5/16. I think your car and USAF should be on this boat as well. Now, all we have to do is cross out fingers, hope for a smooth sail, hope the stock market doesn't crash, then it should be a piece of cake before picking up our cars.

OK, I don't want to put the kabosh on all of this, but just think of this:

My salesperson told me that a few months back, one of the west coast ships sank and all the cars were lost. Everyone had to go back to the beginning of the line and have the same cars produced all over again.

Think about that one !!!! Amazing....

Hope the weather improves...

Man, I don't even want to think about that. If it does happen, I guess I am just gonna have to settle for a lot vehicle or another brand

I think it's the Jupiter Diamond, but I'll find out.

So, USAF, I wonder if you made it onto the Cassiopeia Leader since it left 3 days earlier and you found out about being on a ship 3 days or so before us.

i dont know what to tell you guys. My sales guy told me before that i was on a ship but the phone number finally updated today to tell me that i was in transit. I think i am on the jupiter diamond.
