Brand new in box, never used or even opened. Rogers phone, but I'm sure it can b unlocked or what not.

Regular price is 650 plus tax
600 cash and it's urs. Remember, its new, never opened, plastic is still around it.

I was told the iphones are not carrier locked until a sim card is put in..not sure how true that is though. iOS4 is not unlockable yet but should be soon.

That is untrue.

Phones are locked to carriers because before they go to you, they'll get coded for that specific carrier.

I was told this by the an authorized carrier retailer where I got the hardware upgrade. He said the phone is unlocked until he put the microsim(from fido) in. Otherwise he could have put a Rogers sim in, then it would be locked to Rogers. This also makes sense when you look at how Apple store is able to use any stock of their phones to help people upgrade.

Of course my experience is limited to physically being there for a phone, I have no idea how different the mailed phones are dealt with.

Would there really be a law about this?

Are you thinking about Apple announcing that they will sell the Iphone 4 in Canada completely unlocked so any one from any carrier can use it?

You have the option of buying it unlocked from Apple for full price or get a locked on at a reduced rate like 199.00 under contract for 3yrs from Rogers/Bell or even Apple and then try and sell it on forums for a mark up.
Is everyone clear now?

Don t forget IP4 uses a mini sim card.
Standard sim will not fit unless you cut it to size.
