The quick summary is if I do a multi gear moderate acceleration with just enough boost to get the water injection to kick in and stay going through multiple gear shifts (the mid/low level boost and rpm shift points are important) the DDE seems to get confused on what the "system" is doing and goes into this interesting "mode" of operation until the next key cycle, where behavior returns to stock. It does set a "pending code", but no light.

Not sure if this was how stevers314 got his to trigger or not? Also curious, are you injecting pre IAT sensor? I am, and thought the quick and significant change in IAT's, as measured with the Bav Tech tool, when injection kicked in might have had something to do with getting into the mode. But I no longer have EGR, so didn't get a chance to pursue that line of thought further.
Yes I'm injecting pre IAT, currently I am only running one injector, but plan to add a second smaller nossel to come on at lower boost levels. I am not a beliver in the "progressive" pump, at least not with a 625cc injector.... (I am noticing quech right away when I try to take advantage of this feature) It may work better with a smaller nossel?

Yeah, the problem with a boost only method is that the twin turbo allows very rapid spooling and the car can make full boost at low rpm's. At low rpm's the engine can't swallow as much H2O/methanol without negative issues.

I am injecting pre-IAT (off topic, anyone know how to disconnect that sensor?). Both the 60cc and 225cc nozzles are right above where the metal part of the pipe begins.

I triggered it somehow just by chance. Was driving through cincinnatti on I71 when I noticed torque was showing 0% EGR commanded. Interesting note is that torque also showed a steady ~84 degree IAT which did not move much at all when i pushed the car. I even quit torque and reopened it to see those two gauges stay the same way.

Currently I am progressing from 10-19psi with the 225 nozzle kicking in at 20. Zero quench. Quite sure i will be stepping the big nozzle up to 375cc but I cannot decide yet if i want to purchase a 100cc nozzle to replace the 60, or try using a 175 in its place. I like being able to inject at slightly moderate loads and would probably have to raise the activation point.

If i can figure out a way of switching the system on based on RPM I'll do that too because I think the swirl flaps are causing some beading at low RPM which results in quench.

Just a note... Torque's Intake temps are not from the Intake Air Temp sensor on the charge pipe. I verified this by disconnecting the sensor... The Bavarian Technic tool reads the IAT at the charge pipe sensor, but the Torque OBD app appears to get its info from the MAF sensor post air filter.

Also, to disconnect the sensor, it was a matter of finding the "tab" and pressing it firmly, and wiggling. It was a bit difficult, but I've done it many times over the last few years. Having strong fingers/thumb will help greatly.

Thanks! Good to know and that will be helpful next time i want to change the nozzle. I suppose it's time to invest in a BT tool. I'm just not impressed with the presentation of BMWhat.

My AEM flow gauge should be in this week, hope to install it next weekend if I can find a good spot.

It is a universal kit so you have to think a bit to install it. Some tips:

1. If possible, install the pump lower than the tank with a filter in between to protect the pump and avoid clogged nozzles.

2. Run the lines away from heat sources. On my car it goes on the same brackets than fuel line from the trunk to engine bay. There is several rubber caps at the trunk that allows the access to the exterior. Just drill a smaller hole than the fuel line in the rubber cap to garantee the sealing. After running all the line through, i even put a bit of silicone on the intersection with the rubber cap for better sealing.

3. On the engine, tap the nozzle right away at the exit of the intercooler (driver side). This way it garantee better fuel optimization till cylinder chamber and allows the temp sensor after the intercooler to read the lower temps due to wmi and adjust ecu parameters for it.

All this can be read on AEM instructions and any mechanic guy with medium skills will be able to do the job quite easy.

I believe that port on the controller is looking for boost pressure. As I don't think there is any existing pressure line to tap into you are going to have to drill and tap another hole in the boost pipe where you already installed the meth nozzle.

Sorry man, I don't have any particular thread or installation instructions. My system has evolved quite a bit over the years, and it's got a lot of cobbled together stuff from various manufacturers...

I just set read everything.

Not still clear if the meth\water brings big gain in power, there is definitely some, but i don't think that 335d owners feel underpowered

My goal is to get as much life from my 335d, so i am interested mostly in clean and keeping my intake clean.

Hooper has mentioned, that there somewhere pictures of his intake after running meth kit with blocked EGR, but couldn't find them.

Will the BMS meth kit only work with the JBD or will it be a standalone product?

That post is from 2012 and as far as I know they never made a 335d kit. I believe some people bought the gasser kit and adapted it but if you're doing that you might as well go AEM?

The BMS kit has come and gone. They did make a diesel kit using the JBD but it never even made it on the website. I emailed them and got one.

Crap.

I am scheduled to get a water/meth kit from AEM installed next week. I am also putting in the EGR blocking plates next week. I have four months left on my warranty but I want to get that damn EGR blocked sooner than later. Given that BMW NA has put in the following for over the last 12 months I feel like I have gotten a fair shake from the CPO warranty:
-New transmission
-new wastegate
-new urea tank
-6 new glow plugs

I would be grateful if anyone has some quick words of wisdom on getting a water/meth kit installed. I am using the one from AEM designed for turbo diesels. Any advice on nozzle size, pump location, parameters/sensors controlling injection, tank size/location, reputation of AEM, etc.
