Bluetooth (MULF) Repair

Long time no see! I'm back in an E91 330d after my Jag got written off!

It's got a fault with the MULF unit, not picking up the phone via Bluetooth. The previous owner unplugged it as it shorted all the CCC/Radio etc.

Any recommendations on a fix?

Is it definitely a hardware issue and not software?

I would reset it first using NCS. If that doesn't work, a replacement can be had from eBay quite cheaply.

I gather that a replacement would need coding to the vehicle (using the VIN)

There are people on eBay who repair the unit and recode for £250. Seems steep to me, just wondered if there is something simple or a DIY fix to try?!

Coding can easily be done by yourself using NCS.

As suggested, a cheap fix would be to reset it first.
