With everything that you've done, you've eliminated quite a bit. I'd try two things that won't cost you any more.
1. Get the rear wheels with tires in the front, and the fronts in the rear. If there is some wheel vibration you'll feel it go from front to rear. Even if the offset is a little off a short drive won't cause too much issues. 2. When you have the car jacked up, check the wheel bearing. All you have to do is move the wheel around to see if there's any play without having to use force to move the steering wheel. Bonus: While you have your wheels off check the tie rods and end links as well. Keep us posted! |

It's not the abs / dsc interfering. I've tracked my car plenty to know what that feels (and sounds!) like. It's a mechanical "defect" of sorts, there's no doubt about it.
I have used ISTA/D, and everything is okay (except for some glow plug errors in the DDE, but that's pretty much defacto standard on the diesels...) and the JBBE which I haven't made aware of my S609A retrofit (NBT navigation). The hubs (wheel bearing / hub assembly) also got replaced now, just to make sure they are spotless. Double checked every joint, every bushing. Actually, everything on the front are new now (calipers also got "rebuilt"), except for steering rack, inner and outer tie rods and stabilizer bar bushings. I've checked these thoroughly, both with un- and loaded suspension, there is no slack what so ever. Used a breaker bar amongst other tools, so it's not like I didn't get rough to check it... :-) Steering wheel linkages are all fine - checked them thoroughly (two man job). But as the actual wheel and the steering wheel has a synced "wobble", it seems like they are properly connected. :P I haven't tried braking in a bend. If I can't catch what it is before then, I have an upcoming trackday I can use for diagnosis. |

I've tried my winter wheels as well (17 inch OE wheels). No difference. :-( Air pressure was checked and doubled checked on both sets of wheels. Rear wheels doesn't work on the front btw (19 inch Oceans) - seems like 9.5x19" is too much to fit in the front. |

That's actually an interesting suggestion. Last fluid replacement was done a year ago (complete flush!) with Castrol React SRF Racing. I'd just expect that (fluid boil) to give a very spongy pedal feel afterwards, which it haven't got - the brakes feel very strong with excellent response (except for the vibrations when very hot obviously).

Im not sure of the service life of SRF as i've never used it before but traditionally race fluids are intended for very short service intervals. The other thing is, SRF is not a low viscosity fluid which is required for the DSC system to work as BMW designed.
If you've only recently started to have this issue and you've been using the same fluid years ago without issue then disregard my suggestion but im out of ideas for now. Something seems to be taking control of your steering. Can you fight it by firmly holding the wheel straight? |

Whatever it is, it forces the wheels so hard that I can't fight it with even a larger amount of force. And on the other hand I'm too scared to REALLY fight it, as the force would end up in the steering rack instead of being released in the steering wheel. A broken steering rack while at speed would make for a baaad time. |

Also check pads aren't seized in the carriers. Just a thought.

Checked that, and double checked. The brakes aren't binding all.
I'm probably going to bite the bullet and let the danish BMW workshop with the best reputation, KOED, take a look. I'm totally clueless. They've made sure to have every part in the front in stock including... Ehm. Steering wheel to rack connections and the rack itself. |

Just for the heck of it, the car has decided to start acting up again. Sigh.
Probably going 335i brakes this time, here's to hoping they'll hold up. Although, my first set of discs took a couple trackdays worth of abuse without ever acting up. Discs got black, centre caps were lost from the wheels - but the discs were fine. I... Don't... Get... It... |
