Private number plates?

Considering getting myself a private plate, never done it before

Anybody recommend where to get one made and what I should look out for? Or is it just a straightforward Halfords type job?

Think they were £30 from memory. Had to send them the usual bits and pieces (V5, drivers licence) and they then posted to new plates to me.

£30 from the dealer and they fitted them as well. Good service - saves making a cock up of it.

Have you already got a reg that you own or are you looking to get that as well? If you do have to get that then I can recommend www.dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk the prices you see is what you pay and there's no hidden fees.

It's where I got mine, £250 all in but that's just for the bit of paper. For the actual plates there are literally hundreds of places to get them from.

a lot of the third party sites have hidden fees which youll see at checkout (the DVLA site is what you see first is what you pay (majority it is cheaper to buy direct from DVLA, a lot of the websites list the same plates that DVLA do but add their mark up) but also they do sell plates cheaper if they are owned by themselves.

expect to pay from £250-£25,000

normally the fewer digits the more money but not in all cases

all depends on what you want and how common or rare it is
