Warranty choices 335d
I took out a subsidised warranty with Warrantywise when I bought my E91 335d just under a year ago. It's due for renewal in a couple of days and I'm not sure whether just to renew at £330 vs BMW's warranty offering at £1100 (reduces to £547 with a £250 excess).
Does anyone have any experience as to the differences? I can't see an awful lot considering the massive price difference? |

Both of those seem expensive to me. I took the option to extend my '57 plate 335d BMW AUC warranty last year and have been paying £24 a month (£288 a year) since. I assume both are more expensive as it wasn't a BMW AUC car, but £1,100 is extortion as far as I'm concerned.
As long as the warranty covers the major components of the car and all the expensive parts to replace I'd go with the cheaper one. The devil is usually in the small print, it might be easier to compare them by seeing what they don't cover rather than what they do.

I've only ever used the BMW warranty and it's pretty good. The issue with using someone like Warrantywise, Warranty Direct etc. is they have so many terms to cover themselves.

Do BMW also not try to wiggle out of things just as much? |

When I've used the BMW one I've never had any issues with them. With the others they can be more hassle. e.g IIRC they will only cover so much of the labour charge per hour.

I've been with warrantyWise for the last 3 years now (4month on 335d and the rest on my 118d) and i've never had any problems.
£40 a month, £0 excess and far better than Warranty Direct who i was with before. In my opinion... for the cost... cant really beat what i'm getting |

I’m in exactly the same situation; BMW quoting approx £370 (as far as I remember) – excluding roadside assistance and with £100 XS (comprehensive component cover).
Warrantywise match price, but include roadside assistance AND premature wear and tear to items like clutch. They pay up to £200/hr labour so OK with BMW-garage maintenance. 330d, 3-yrs old, 20k miles Last edited by BarrySt; 11-03-2013 at 03:53 AM.. |

Yup, that's with the £250 excess. As mentioned it's probably to do with the mileage, as I was sitting at sub-50k miles when I took out the option to extend it. I've just ticked over 60k though so I'm expecting a hike in price when I next renew.
