Just bought match 86DSP. Bridge channels?
Hello, I’m not very knowledgeable in car audio, but I know enough to understand the basics.
I have an E93 with S676. I upgraded the door speakers with Bavsound stage 1. I have not replaced the underseat subs. I just bought bimmer techs $900 amp, which is the match PP 86DSP from Fischer. It arrives on Wednesday. The specs say: 8 ch x 55W RMS @ 4 ohms 8 ch x 70W RMS @ 2 ohms So I’m trying to understand how many channels my speakers require, and if it’s possible to bridge two channels for the underseat subs. So below are my questions specifically. 1. Do the stock subs run at 2 ohms or 4? 2. How many channels do my speakers require? I have 4 mids, 2 tweeters, and 2 underseat subs. Is that 8 channels? Or do both tweeters run on 1 channel? Basically is there a way to bridge the underseat subs? 3. Is this amp worth $900? I know there’s the match up 7BMW which gives 140W x2 for the underseat subs. Seems like that would have been a better buy 😞 4. Is it a significant improvement to upgrade the underseat subs? If it is, what would be the best option for this amp? I do love bass, but I don’t enjoy the shake your whole car bass anymore. I prefer a balanced sound but with good bass. 5. Anything else you can tell me that I should know about my setup? Thanks! Every Speaker in a Hi Fi system is 2 ohms and
they are all crap . But not as crappy as the stock amp. Hi Fi amp is 6 channels which means 6 sets of wires from the amp. Please read the first 3 or 4 links it will be come clear. BMW stereo types http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352586 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780865 http://bmwcoders.com/forum/3-er-8/bm...1-e92-e93-291/ http://technicpnp.com/menuDiagrams/d...e90_92_93.html http://www.musicarnw.com/page-2/ http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...3&d=1169133185 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780605 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...4&d=1278871872 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343673 https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/e...n-752.1275694/ base system wiring pre/post 3/09 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...1#post16679904 Base System Guide http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...5&d=1493273253 Download the Manual for the specifics on Bridging. Jehnert XE 200 underseats are the most audiophile like speaker's for a midrange price. Warm and accurate. (They are not lacking in bass accurate bass) They are not subwoofer's though which are mostly unneeded for full range music. don't waste your money on rear speakers. Be prepared to tune the system. You could go active on the front tweeters if you are willing to run another pair of wires to the doors. (seprate channel for tweeters) Do your homework on tuning a DSP at the Helix audio tech fisher website. dsp https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1384218 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1383653 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1381697 If you bought is from Bimmertech they will have a stock tune or tunes. From the Audiotech Fisher Website. You can buy either the 86dsp or the BMW 7 directly from Audio Tech Fisher. but they don't include tunes or whatever other add on's there are. At least the tunning ability of the amp is not locked down from Bimmertech. You are not doing your homework if Bavsound speakers are your first and only consideration. There are many plug and play speaker kits for these now from Jehnert , Focal , Match, MBQuart and more , and they will give you there specs and in the case of door speaker actual physical crossovers between the tweeters and mid's Both the amp/dsp's you are talking about are multi channel 8 and 7 I believe. https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...fiers/pp-86dsp https://www.ebay.com/itm/23362374350...Cclp%3A2047675 Match speaker set for all the fronts around 500 bucks on ebay. Pretty sure you would have to modify the Harness to Bridge the under seats . Last edited by ctuna; 10-03-2021 at 06:02 PM.. |

I did do research regarding the speakers, I guess it just wasn’t good research. A lot of threads pointed me in the direction of the bavsound speakers. I got all the speakers minus the underseat mids. It was $450. Are the bavsound speakers not that great? How much worst are they compared to something else of them similar cost? I could return them but I’d rather not because their already installed. When I installed them it didn’t change the sound quality very much because my amp is bad. The mids and highs are better, but the sound quality is so bad that it’s unpleasant to play music. There are hardly any low notes, just mainly fuzz. Once the amp arrives I’m sure it’s going to make a significant difference. I’m going to take some time tonight and read through your links. |

That amp will turn your system into amazing alone from where it
is. The thing I don't like about Bavsound is they won't publish there specs. I think there underseats are overpriced and actually think there doors are overpriced for what they are. They were originally designed for the stock amps and they promised Bavsound designed amp for a decade before using the Helix BMW7 . I don't know if there better than something of a similar cost but you can get a complete package of underseats and doors at the same cost in some cases and this seems like a much better deal. There are defiantly better speakers though, that are designed with aftermarket amps in mind. This makes it hard to match them with and aftermarket amp. The thing about the expensive price on a Helix is you are getting and amp and a DSP and one of the better of both. Also I have seen bridge configurations in there manuals mostly for a sub but it suggests it can be done. Last edited by ctuna; 10-05-2021 at 11:15 AM.. |

They don’t appear to be all that great just based on the RMS wattage values. I guess I’ll try them out when the amp arrives tomorrow and see what I think. I would hate to uninstall them and return them as it is so much work, but it doesn’t appear I got the best value for my money. The bavsound speakers are designed to be an OEM replacement while using the OEM amp. Size: 25mm Material: Silk Composite Impedance: 4 Ohm Frequency Response: 4,000Hz - 20,000Hz Power Handling (RMS): 22W Sensitivity: 96dB +- 2dB at 1m with 1W input Midranges: ----------------- Size: 100mm (4") Material: Woven Fiberglass Impedance: 4 Ohm Frequency Response: 500Hz - 4,000Hz Power Handling (RMS): 40W Sensitivity: 84dB +- 2dB at 1m with 1W input Ghost Subwoofers: ----------------- Size: 200mm (8") Material: Woven Fiberglass Impedance: 2 Ohm, 4 Ohm, 8 Ohm Frequency Response: 40Hz - 200Hz Power Handling (RMS): 100W Sensitivity: 73dB +- 2dB at 1m with 1W input Last edited by Chrisguilday; 10-05-2021 at 03:59 PM.. |

OEM replacement while using the OEM amp. Yep
Mids kind of weak at 40 watts the rest are OK. At one point somebody on there said they were made by diamond audio. Morel mids claim to play to 50 hz on the low end Focals 80 hz on the low end. Also first time I have seen those specs released. Last edited by ctuna; 10-06-2021 at 02:05 PM.. |
