Detroit tap water, last I think Coca-Cola said. The company might change it up from time to time to wherever they can get the best deal, though.

"To create DASANI water, we start with the local water supply, which is then filtered for purity using a state-of-the-art process called reverse osmosis. Afterwards, we add a special blend of minerals for that pure, crisp, fresh taste."

Yes, this is true. Not just Detroit water. Each plant uses their local water supply. Pepsi does the same thing with Aquafina. Poland Springs is one of the few that uses spring water.

Dradernh - you in the business or just an educated consumer?

Well that explains the nostalgic garden hose taste.

Now that you're thinking about brands, I'll recommend a book to you called Buyology. A lot of really interesting info in there about what we do, why we do it, and how they know our what/why.
Oh come on - Nissan isn't so bad - you're thinking of mitsubishi!

Correct. In fact, bottled water from the natural sources will be labeled as spring or something similar. The rest is tap water. Spring water may be collected and delivered to the production plant for filtering and bottling, or production plant can be "sitting" on the source. Poland Spring is one of them. That brand use to belong to Nestle and was sold to Blue Triton along with all Nestle water business. They only kept Perrier and San Pellegrino.
