On and off rain and breezy in PB County. Nothing fancy. Biggest issue today was guessing when to take dogs out to avoid rain.

I fucking feel this! LOL I had to do the same thing.

Kind of the same thing up here in PSL, lots of wind, bands of rain and that is about it. I put up shutters in the front of my house cuz it fases the direction of the shore & where the store is coming from. Just over here chillin tho

I’m so out of the loop. I’ve been out in the woods without service for the past few days and came in to a mountain of catch up. Only reason I know it’s coming my way is because of a text from a friend and casually seeing this thread.

Hunker down!

I just took them out for the last time in the pouring rain and wind. Still not that bad compared to past storms but definitely the worst trip outside of the day lol.

I'm just getting a few strong bands, but our summer afternoon storms are worse. The worst part is going to be the storm surge along the coast. I didn't close my accordions or put up the few shutters.

We’ve had the Atlantic breach the dunes and run across A1A in the south end of town; lots of rock and sand on the road which is closed until cleanup. Also a breach north near the St John’s county line, don’t know if the road is closed there. No breach where we are, but biggest waves are predicted for tomorrow morning.

Our pier was ruined by Ian and condemned after inspection. This storm will provide some free demolition. Daytona has had several issues mainly because, like Flagler, Ian eroded a lot of the protective/sacrificial sand and dunes. But other than that so far nothing serious reported around here yet. Minor flooding along the ICW will get serious tomorrow, but the rain forecast is way down since the storm path moved south and will go a bit more west before the big turn north.

Hope all in S FL are fine.
Ended up being a non-event for me. No power loss or damage and it came ashore close to where I am.

Same here. I heard the wind picking up around 1am last night before going to bed, but that's it. Not even raining now.

Much stronger here than expected, but no damage to the house etc. Winds still high but beginning to diminish now. Lots of erosion at the beach, and A1A got wet and sandy/rocky, maybe slightly undermined in one spot.

Clean up tomorrow; so far just picking up tree fall and rinsing off the house etc to clear the salt. Hopefully nothing more!

Edit: apparently about 2 miles south of us the Northbound lane of A1A washed out. That will be closed for a while so FDOT can figure out a better way to repair it than the last time.

Where are you located? Sounds like you are close to me.

The storm pretty much made landfall like 2 minutes away from my house. Tons of wind & rain but no bigge tbh...which I am greatful for! No damage, no standing water, all trees standing, no lost roof tiles. Hell I didn't even lose power!

So my question for you guys is...How long are your rides going to remain in the garage before you dare to take them out into what is now a very salty world. Anyone making an offering to Chango for major rain storms, and soon?

Like most CAT1 storms, this one was as expected. Besides the beach erosion and washed out roads along the beach, I don't think even a leaf blew past my house. I was outside on my patio having a cigar until about 1am with no worries. It sucks that I had to cancel my patients today because of the media making it out to be dangerous and patients believing it.

Ummm... I'm not sure that concern has ever crossed my mind having lived most of my life in FL. I lived on the beach for a few years and I recall my car at the time would get sand all over the engine bay and inside the air filter housing.

Now I live like 2-3 miles from the beach and never see sand or anything like that. I would have taken the car out last night if I really had somewhere to go. This morning it's dry with tiny sprinkles passing by every so often. No concerns at all.

Flagler Beach, so a bit north of you. Same experience at our house, but others were less fortunate.

Edit: you’re about 160 miles south of us, which is why I thought we would have a bit milder experience. But we started with high winds out of the NW, and over about the last 48 hours went around the compass (N-NE-E-SE, now S). Sustained over 30, part of it sustained near 40, gusts 50+. Not awful, but enough to pile up a lot of ocean water against the beach. Add the king tides and we had a lot of erosion and such. Low lying areas flooded, as they seems to usually do; we got more rain than forecast because the storm told a bit more northerly path and was slow moving. There was more wind damage to neighbors than in Ian, but less for our house.

That’s why I drive a 2006 750Li, well, one reason why. There is constantly salt in the air, so the car should be washed after nearly every drive. I’m not doing that, so my car is essentially a pretty nice beater.

I rinse my house every week or two depending on the weather. Tomorrow afternoon I’ll be hosing it down because there is a nice salt film everywhere. Also have to get some water on the lawn, which seems wrong after so much rain, but the salt has to be washed down or the grass will struggle.

Beach life, a worthwhile set of trade-offs for us, but obviously not for everyone.

Saw a video of a Florida man fishing in his front yard/road, and another Florida couple kayaking down the (flooded) road. There is a video somewhere of a shark swimming across the street farther south. Maybe some better examples will emerge as the weather clears.

Wow yeah that is nuts. But with Ian, we had a similar experience. It was like 200+ miles West of us but we got a TON of wind, and a fair amount of rain. But luckily both times we had very little issues. I am pretty close to the beach but not close enough to have been effected like you guys. So glad you are safe and made it out fairly unscathed

So the storm started here on Wednesday (really late Tuesday) and left the area Thursday evening. Wednesday the major road, A1A, which runs along the ocean here, washed out in several areas. In most cases it was undermined and/or lost a bit of the northbound lane, in at least one location the entire left lane was gone with a deep carve-out where it had been. Pictures of that made national news. An 8-mile stretch of A1A was closed in both directions because of the damage.

Thursday morning FDOT was on the scene and had crews coming in to begin repairs - as the storm continued. Last night (Saturday), the road reopened.

FDOT is working all over the state, especially the east coast, following Nicole. They did amazing work on the SW side after Ian, and did it again here.
