BMW Performance Brakes

hi fellow members,

i have a question that i need help with. tried searching and asked a vendor here online and dealers but had not luck with straight forward answers.

I have a 2006 E90 325i, i am looking for the OEM BMW Performance Brakes. i was told by dealer and vendor that this kit is not suited for my car. i gave them my VIN and they said my VIN is not listed to be compatible. i'm wondering if they just left out my car spec or year built from the compatible list for some reason. dealer told me that my car was an 'early bird' therefore the Performance brakes is no suited for the car.

is this true? anyone had this issue?
if its not compatible, what needs to be done in order to fit?

Thanks in advance

have also checked this website before wasn't sure what's the main difference between the 325 and 328 brakes. they also listed the 330 which is the same period as the 325

The only thing you can do really, is to check RealOEM and compare the parts (brackets for the calipers, calipers and rotors) between a 325 and 328 to see if they have identical part numbers. If they are all identical, then theoretically, the 325 parts are the same as 328 parts.

If any of them are different, then the chances of them not fitting is very high.

I just checked realoem. 330i rotors, calipers, and pads have different part numbers. I think the 330i rotor is larger than the 325i.

325i front rotor: 34116772669
330i front rotor: 34116764645

That being said, under brakes, you can click on accesories and retrofits, and the Perforamance Brakes are listed there.

the other reason i'm asking is. if indeed the performance brakes are not meant for my car because of bigger rotors etc... wouldn't they still fit with the bigger wheels i have? the specs may be according to BMW's standards but being a modder, we are always capable of bending the rules and make things work as like many of the great E90post members

I can categorically confirm that the BMW Performance BBK will fit on your 325i E90. The kit bolts straight on, and the only requirement is that you have 17" wheels as a minimum. The bracketing is directly compatible with the existing setup, as are the brake hoses. If you want upgraded hoses, Goodridge have a BMW setup available with the OEM terminations.

There is no reprogramming of the DSC system required either.

I have helped people here in the UK install the BBK on anything from a 318 upwards. My recommendation is NOT to fit them to a 335i or 335d as it ends up being a performance downgrade (assuming no other parts are changed, ie. pads)

What is your experience like with upgrading performance brakes on cars that were not listed ie e90 328's or whichever? What was the one thing you found common that was needed between each upgrade if performance brakes were not meant to be used on a certain car?

I am thinking of e90 328I upgrading brakes but i know the rears dont fit for whatever reason, so in order to make it fit what would I need?

I was playing around with ETK and found out that the BMW Performance Front Brake Kit (part number 34 11 0 444 738) is compatible for E90, E90 LCI and E92 from 318i/318d, 320i/320d, 323i, 325i up to 328i

However, when I checked the BMW Performance Front and Rear Brake Kit (part number 34 11 0 444 769), the part use told me that this kit is applicable on the following cars:
E81 & E87 LCI 123d,130i
E87 130i
E90 325d, 330i
E90 LCI & E92 325d, 330i, 330d

A strange thing is that the kit is compatible for most E93, E91 and E91 LCI:
E93 320i/320d, 323i, 325i/325d, 328i, 330i/330d
E91 318i/318d, 320i/320d, 323i, 325i/325d, 328i
E91 LCI 318i/318d, 320i/320d, 323i, 325i/325d, 328i, 330i/330d

By comparing the stock brakes part numbers of E90s 325i and 330i, I assume we need these parts to retrofit the rear brakes:
Rear brake carriers 34 21 6 769 104 (2pcs)
rear protection plates 34 20 6 780 217 & 218
(u might want to check whether u have these part number already on your car or not)

the BMW Performance brake kit also includes the protection plates according to the "parts of a kit" list. However I'm not sure about the carriers.
The stock front carriers on E90 330i has this part number: 34 11 6 769 097
My 325i has this part number for the front carriers: 34 11 6 769 095

My 325i stock front discs are 300x24mm, rear disc are 300x20mm
330i stock front discs is 330x24mm, rear discs are 336x22mm (strange, rear is a little bigger than front)
