How do you reach the jacking point near the front? *pic included*

I tried to slide my low profile jack under the car from the front but nothing there is no way it'll reach that metal block.

Any suggestions? I really don't like using the side jacking points because they only bring up one side at a time.

Jack up each side in turn and slide a 2x6 or a RaceRamp under each front tire. Then if you have a low profile floor jack you should be able to reach the front jack point although you might find you have to deform and bumper a bit. Might need a couple of pieces of 2x6 under each tire depending on your ground clearance.

A few options that I use depending on what I'm doing:

1) Drive onto Rhino Ramps, then its easy.
2) Jack up one side at a time, put a 2x4 under the tire, then lower it. Then a jack fits under the front just fine.
3) Drive onto small 2x4s, then same as above.

Hope this helped! Don't forget to use jack stands!

The xi also rides higher (unless you have aftermarket suspension). when i work on my friend's e92, i drive it on to 2x4's and then i can reach the jack point easy.

I don't exactly recall exactly but I remember it being pretty much in line with the front axles.

I have an extra long low profile jack and it reaches the jacking point. Harbor Freight special but it is pretty well built.

I lift up one side high enough to put a few bricks under one tire, then jack from the center jacking point.

I tried to do that ended up cracked the under body plastic cover.

What I did was just jack up one front side, place the stand under, switch to another front side, then do the rear sides.

I have two jacks, one is a low profile, the other is this cheap $30 Harbor Freight one.
I take my low profile and jack the rear drivers side jack point up a little till i can fit my cheapo jack on the front drivers side pad. Then I pull my low profile jack to the front and I can get it up.

All in all it takes me about 2 minutes to get the front on jackstands, another 2 for the rear.

Just get the right jack. Would you use a 13MM socket on 12MM bolt?

I drive my car up on some large wood blocks that are the same width as my tires. My jack will fit just fine, though it takes about 10 seconds to get a reasonable amount of leverage from the jack. Just get them cut at Home Depot and you're good to go.

I jack one side up with the factory jack (I have the non-run-flat conversion kit) and slide my floor jack under the front.

That's kind of what I'm doing right now. Too inefficient. Takes way too long.

1. I have Rhino ramps but I have a one car garage so driving up on them is a little scary. I have done it numerous times but jacking the front up is easier.
2. Jacking each side takes too long.
3. This seems like it's worth a shot, thanks!

I have the low profile aluminum jack from Harbor Freight. I like that one more. I wish they made a long version of the aluminum one. I would buy it on my way home today.

Takes too long. Thanks. Driving up on some 2x4 seems faster, although bricks would give more clearance.

Hmm...not a bad idea. I almost want to say two jacks is necessary in every garage after these comments.

Too heavy. I wish they had a long aluminum one.

I'm not saying it isn't heavy, but I got it from the store into my trunk and back out of the trunk in the garage without help and have lifted it in and out of vehicles a handful of times since. I'm not exactly Hulk Hogan over here either.

You will pay 3-4x that price for an equivalent aluminum jack I would guess, but they can be had.

Other than getting a set of race ramps and driving the car up on them and then using the clearance to get to the center jack point there really aren't that many options. I'm using a AC Hydraulics DK13HLQ and RR-TJ-S Race Ramps and the jack will just barely reach the jack point and the bottom of the front bumper has to be distorted in order to do it. Then again ground clearance is only three inches so there's that...

Has anyone ever jacked in the front jacking point and have some crazy loud cracking or popping noises when they're nearing high height?
