You need to be on stock air box and diverters to pass smog. Most won't be able to tell if you have larger piping as they don't see this model car all the time to take notice of small details.

Gotcha, that was what I was most worried about. I have the stock box and diverters that are going on as well as downpipes. May just try to pass smog inlets and outlets on. It'll make my life so much easier. Thanks!

I'm guessing it doesn't have the secondary cats? If that's the case, it depends on if the tech notices the missing cats. Depends on the shop, but often times they walk around the car with a long mirror to look under it. They don't seem to notice DPs though.

This is assuming you go somewhere that doesn't use the sniffer.

Interesting. When I check my 2007 335i with Cobb stage 1 tune no FMIC, mine show up Catalyst Not Completed but Evaporative is Completed.

Any idea if this will pass when I tune back to Stock?

Do you have catless downpipes? If yes, are you using a dp fix? If no, then no, you will not pass until catalyst is completed. Evap is not important. I passed with that not complete.

No reason why it wouldn't pass a visual assuming you put the stock box back in.

Nice, congrats. Can I ask what you sold it for and how many miles? Did you remove most of the mods?

I'm contemplating selling my E92 but I'm not sure what to get next. What did you get?

Can you link me to Andy?

Nice Shane!

Anyone know of someone in the East Bay / NorCal area to pass?

Also, do you guys leave the DP Fixes plugged in the entire time? Heard it's not optimal to leave them plugged in.

The consensus seems to be that leaving the fixes in affects fuel trims in a negative manner.

I can't say I have seen this effect but then I don't push my vehicle that much and I have not dived into looking at the trims. I just may not notice it.

I also have hi flow cats too.

Mine is effectively on all the time.

I wonder if it is possible to wire in a switching harness?

The ****** iO2 sensors can be left on the car all the time. You should take a look.

I am your former smog tech in O.C if you don’t want to fail or have a hard time passing don’t go with something that will stand out like a sore thumb. They will go by the book. But the things smog tech check beside the OBD2 testing would be visual smoke test and visually check for tamper components. If your aftermarket performance parts don’t have a C.A.R.B # it has be replaced with an OEM part. If you can find someone who will look the other way then you’re all good. Any Error code store or ECU has been clear in the last 150 miles your car will failed due to computer reset adaptation and the readiness monitor hasn’t complete its comprehensive testing.

Good luck. If you have more question I will be glad to help.

My car ran like crap with the DP fix plugged in. Even turned all the way off. Engine would hesitate/stumble and check engine light would pop on. I would have to constantly clear it with MHD.

I am contemplating putting on catted DP's with a high quality cat like HJS or GESI. I don't ever want to put the DP fix on my car ever again.
