N57 330d running temp
Dear all, got an e93 with the N57 330d engine, and a manual gearbox.
I understand the N57 has only one thermostat? Love the car and the engine. I have a 15 mile commute (inc 10 mile motorway) I sit at 65mph there and 75mph back. Expecting the mpg to take a hit in the colder weather, currently @38mpg. Was mid 40's in the Summer, so quite a drop. Enough for me to think something is wrong. Using the hidden menu, I see the coolant temp seems to sit around 84-85 degrees. Assuming the opening temp of the t/stat is 88 degrees, is it not getting hot enough? On a long journey @ a CC 75mph, the temp remains the same with mpg in high 40's. Would this lower temp affect mpg and DPF regens? Is there a hotter running thermostat? If so, would the engine benefit? If not, does it sound like mine needs replacing, or is my daily commute not long enough to get to temp? thanks Ian |

sounds like it could be on way out,,,only one stat for n57,,no egr stat etc,,,mpg will drop a little over colder months,,give it a better run and some heavy load driving,,should get over 88 degrees and into 90's,,but 84 degree's should not effect mpg that much,,when my e90 needed new stats,,i was getting 36 mpg,,now get over 42 average,,m57 engine, will not effect regens,,regens need over 75 degree's etc
