well every GB I've participated in here or heard about here has been perfectly fine. Even with evil ex-businesses like BavDom. I should have known this GB would go to shit from the day it moved across like six different forums. Whatever, this hasn't scared me away from GBs (as you can tell from my sig ) just sketchy overseas GBs with guys named Ivan.

I will make the DIY once I test with Cliff the most effective way to position the heads if vertically in the grill or horizontally behind them .

I installed the LI and took many many pics for the DIY, however the effectiveness of my head installation ( behind the grill) is unknown.

once I change my windshield ( I crack it while installing the LI ) I will drive to Tampa and test the unit ( sometime next week ) and then I will post the DIY.

don't worry guys I wont let you down

you can read what happen and how the installation looks by going to http://85.125.82.130/LaserIntercepto...p?topic=451.60

I have no doubt that you will come through with a excellent diy calvino.

I just received mine today, however i'm in a 2 day golf tourny over the weekend, then I'm off to Alaska untill friday of next week. By then I'm sure there will be all kinds of suggestions on proper installation....including calvino's diy.

I am pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff...so I will welcome any and all suggestions!

Looking forward to the results of the horizontal versus vertical mounting positions. What did you use to secure them behind the grill. Was a mounting bracket included? I hope to get mine soon!

yes the mounting bracket is included, I really hope I get good results b/c behind the slats the setup is near invisible superior in terms of aesthetics and most important theft-protection

Calvino - any thoughts about placing led's and the on/off switch on the black trim around the shift nob? I've seen a few Blinder installs that did this...and I thought they looked great. Plus, if you screw it up, or would like to remove everything later on....I don't think the trim is very expensive to replace.

that's sounds like a good idea I place my switch under the steering wheel it looks good and is easy access. but I going to take a look at your suggestion

what I don't want it to make the DIY extremely complicated because then people are not going to do it.

remember that the steps that the diy will include are:

removing the center console, tapping intro the cigarette lighter power source, removing the grills installing and level the heads, running the cables to from the engine bay to the cabin etc...

the installation took me about 3 hours, is not hard just a little time consuming.

the only reason why I haven't write it yet is because I want to test the location of the heads 1st

here is a pic of were I put my switch

I think I might sell mine. I haven't been home yet as I'm at an HPDE weekend but I'm sure it'll be at my house by now. Since I ordered this I've basically stopped speeding as I've gotten all my speeding done on track, and I have basically decided not to permanently install my V1 so this is almost stupid. IDK....

I plan (would like) to mount mine vertically between the slats in the grill as I think they would be most effective there. I agree that horizontally behind the slats would look better and be more secure so I may change my mind once I start installing.

Has anyone installed their vertically? How did you do it?

I was thinking of using 3M Dual Lock or double sided trim tape, but in thinking about how to position them the heads so they are absolutely level (perpendicular to the plane of the road both front to back and side to side) I am not sure how to get the head in between the slats and stuck in place. So maybe this intended method won't work.

Anyone got any good ideas/methods?

I have no idea how to mount them vertically, is going to be hard because the surface is not even I hope when I test mine with cliff I will see if he can help me mount them, however I hope there is no difference or at least very little difference in performance mount them behind the grills. with is my preferred mounting place

I think horizontally behind the grill slats will work for some (maybe most) shots if aimed from direct to almost direct head on. But if the gun is off to the side of the road that head locaton will not work as a slat will obstruct the line of sight.
