West coast race day

Hey guys, for many of you long time no talk.

As some of you know there is a Southern California private track day coming up on Nov 30th at California Speedway. Unfortunately so far support has been pretty low and we're in danger of not getting enough cars to do the event.

This is a great opportunity for everyone in the area (and perhaps those willing to make the drive?) to get together and run on the same track, same day. With only 50-75 cars we'll be able to make as many runs as we'd like.

The Florida guys have their day setup that night, so we should be able to beat them to any potential records by a few hours.

Anyway please sign up, cutoff is on the 20th. After this there isn't another decent 1/4 mile racing opportunity in socal until Fomoso opens up in Jan.

Yeah I figured a lot of guys don't check the local forum, but maybe we'll luck out and get a few. I wish someone would open a real 1/4 mile track down here, one open every week. Racing once every 6 weeks is getting old.

I want to go to this but I don't have a helmet. Is it necessary to have a helmet on 1/4mi runs? Can someone plase point me in the right direction on where I could get one before the event. Better yet, can someone suggest a specific helmet that is cheap and is approved to use during events like this.

Taken from track rules: Helmet: Required in all vehicles faster than 13.99 seconds. Helmet must meet SNELL 90 or better standards (must have label inside of helmet).

Most helmets meet this requirement, go down to a motorcycle shop and they'll have something probably 150ish bucks.

If you would like to attend the event and cant come up with a helmet I have an extra. Its an open face off-road helmet but it is Snell approved so it should work fine(anyone know for sure?). If you would like to use it send me a PM and Ill gladly bring it for you.

Everyone, if you're at all interested go sign up today. If we don't get a few more cars by midnight they are going to cancel the event.

I was about to sign up until I realized it was on a Friday during the day, so it interferes with my work and school schedule. Also, $100 for a day of 1/4 mile passes? What happened to the days of LACR? Wednesday and Friday night test and tune for $10, as many runs as you could get in. Yeah it may have been a little more crowded and the elevation and track conditions sucked, but I always got my moneys worth on wednesday nights.

Have fun guys, I'll most likely attend the next affordable weekend 1/4 mile event, I've been wanting to take my 3 ever since i got it.

Yeah LACR was a deal at $15 is memory serves, but they are no longer open...
