Logic7 Amplifier retrofit - power supply question
Hi, did anyone retrofit Logic7? Is it ok to power it directly from the battery?
Wont it consume a lot of power when car is not driven? Because originaly it is powered from fuse box which cuts off power after 30mins. |

THis is a genuine question. Why would you want to retrofit the logic 7 system? It would seem like it would be significantly easier to put in a good quality aftermarket amp and a processor if you feel so inclined then trying to retrofit the fiber optic loop setup, amp, etc.

Amplifiers draw power based on the there Class and the amount of signal
they are getting and output load. There are all kinds of circuitry to make them more effiecient now also and Class D amps are ultra efficient. But what the last guy said you can get better sound with aftermarket stuff. And it's easier to install. The harness I have to do the retrofit in my wife’s 328i does in fact have a connection for the battery. So, yes, directly to the battery.

the logic7 amp usually powered from fusebox but individual amp can powered from fusebox and from battery junction plate
and these amps have remote power circuit or powered on by most signal so that means that it is possible to power logic7 amp from battery junction

And to be clear, these amps (L7 and DIRAC) use the MOST bus for remote on, so don't go looking around for a remote wire. There isn't any. |

The question I have is, if you're upgrading from the HiFi amp to a L7 amp, can't you just use the same power wire since they both appear use the same F15 fuse (20A) ?

It can be, but i think fuse should be upgraded.

Just did it myself in my 328i. From HiFi to L7. Kept the same power wires and fuse.
No issues. Had to make my own retrofit cable, which was fun... :s Just need to finish running the center speaker wire all the way to the back in the trunk. Still sounds good without it though. |
