Would anyone with a manual-trans 328xi be willing to share trace files for DME, DSC, and VGSG?

I’ve manual-swapped my car and while it went well overall, there’s one issue I’m having a hell of a time resolving. If I can take a look at some of these files from a native manual car that might help.

I have a new to me 2012 328ix 6M E92; I'm new to BMWs but I think I have INPA etc working OK. I can send these if you give me some guidance on generating them.

Your car is considerably newer than mine (2012 vs 2007) so I’m not positive whether our DSC, VGSG, and DME modules will be the exact same, but I think it’s worth a try nonetheless.

Are you familiar with NCS Expert? If you downloaded Standard tools, you should have that as part of the install. I’m on my phone right now so trying to guide you might be tricky but just let me know if you have NCS Expert in the meantime and I can hammer out the steps for you once I’m back at my computer.

Yes I've used NCS expert, so far just to add the digital speedometer to the display. So for the DSC, VGSG and DME trace files that you need, I assume I just read them and retrieve the *.TRC trace files one-by-one in the 'working' directory.

I'll give that a go later this afternoon. Have to get it done soon because I'm about to lose access to the car for a few months.

The FSW_PSW.trc files. And you’re also correct that you’ll have to retrieve one by one as otherwise they’ll overwrite each other.

Really appreciate it! Prob works best to just zip them and upload here, but if you prefer to send them another way just let me know and we’ll figure something out.

Clearly I'm missing something! DME and DSC do not show up for me to select from in NCS expert; VGSG did however, and the trace file is posted below.

DSC does show up for selection in INPA but I don't think one can generate a trace file with INPA. Probably points to me making a wrong choice, or a maybe a bad install of the toolset?

Looked a little deeper this AM. I have a BDSC, and the trace file from it, but I understand that means it's a Bosch unit rather than Continental. So I doubt that would help if you have a Continental DSC unit.

Also, my engine ECU is (AFAIK) 6BMOT, for 6 cylinder Benzene (gasoline), and not DME. If it matters, my 328ix is a SULEV N51.

If either of these trace files would help, PM me your email and I'll send them off

We both have Bosch DSC units (typically called DXC for xDrive vehicles). As for DME it’s also called 6BMOT in NCS Expert, so all good there too.

Why not just change the VO to manual trans and default code the modules back to factory settings? I'm not sure if I am missing something but I believe that should work with ease.

Here’s the thread on the issue I’m trying to solve.

Comparing trace files was just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. You’re correct that it should just be a VO change and factory code to a few modules. My issue is definitely not related to coding.
