The sound is louder when the car is under load (accelerating or engine breaking) and when it is not under load, it gets quiet. I had new tires installed in August, and I was thinking that could be the cause. I will try rotating the tires around to see if the sound moves with them, but I really am leaning toward something with the transfer case.
Did you ever find out the cause of this?

I had the same problem last week, anything above 30mph i would hear the noise, backing up every now and then i would hear a click on my left front wheel. Until one night all hell brakes loose no more humming it was thunder. I couldn't even drive it past 5 feet. It was my front differential that was gone. How it crapped out i dunno but i guess it got domaged because nyc traffic enforcement had towed it last year and messed up the gears.

Same thing here. Blizzak WS50s on my car after I did my suspension and I'm getting a weird hum from the rear that is definitely not rpm related. I'm getting an alignment at this moment and letting the shop check my rear tires while I'm at it.
I've heard blizzaks can be noisy, but this hum is just not what I expected.

Not sure if this is what everyone is talking about here, but I've recently noticed a sound that rises in pitch but not volume but it only present from 15 to 30 mph then goes away and then comes back going from 30 to 15 mph. It kind of sounds like when an electric car takes off from a stop.

I recall that the transfer case is engaging the front diff around those speeds, but I never remember it being audible. I have done a lot recently to quiet things down (squeaks, engine noises, better tires) so maybe I'm just able to hear it for the first time.

I'm having a similar issue to the OP and this is bugging me more and more. at 20 mph you start to hear it but it's kinda quiet, by 40mph it's definitely more noticeable and by 60mph or higher it's really loud.

Also, I've noticed if I turn the steering wheel slightly to the left or if I'm going around a slight left turn... the noise goes away, but as soon as I straighten the wheel back it it's back...this makes me think maybe it's a wheel bearing and when the wheel is turned slightly the weight/pressure is off the bearing that might be bad, so not making the noise?

Anyone confirm what else is causing this? or having similar symptoms? Also I've had two different sets of wheels on and it's still there so I don't think it is wheel related.

My wife's MINI had a pulsating hum that increased with speed. I thought wheel bearing(s), but ended up being what I thought were fairly new Yokohama's. She punctured one of the sidewalls and the tire needed replacing. I had the tire dealer balance the other three and they showed me some very fine dry rot cracks in the side walls. The tread was good, but the tires were not new. I replaced all 4 tires and noticed the hum was gone when driving...

Sounds like a wheel bearing.

I had exactly the same sound in an old Audi Quattro about 10 years ago.

I have this exact issue (198,000 miles) I replaced the passenger rear wheel bearing with no change. On a lift and going 40 the passenger rear made the most noise. The drivers side was making noise as well but not as much. Exactly as you say slight turn to the left and it goes away.

Mine ended up being the crappy Bridgestone tires. Ditched them for Continentals and sound was gone.

Loud Humming Help

Mine started this loud humming sound on uneven surfaces. Has anyone found a resolve? In the video, you'll notice it's louder near the area above your left foot.
