Recommended oil 318i

Hello folks

Need some help with engine oils top up on my 2007 318i petrol. The mileage is on the lower side - 60,000 miles - I don’t drive much, only at the weekends

Having had a look online it seems 5w30 is a good option - what would you recommend? Just want to be sure as I am not very experienced and don’t want to use the wrong oil. If 5w30 (or even if a different variant) then which brand? Castro’s magnatec or Mobil 1 esp/ Mobil 1 3000, any others - I’ll probbaly order it off Halfords or Eurocarparts as not aware of many other engine oil sellers

Thanks

Look for an oil with bmw's recommended LL-04 marking. Any of the ones with it will be fine.

Ok, thanks. Haven’t really seen many options with long life fuels on Halfords and eurocarparts but I’ll give it another try.

What about viscosity index?

Just realised even Halfords own meets LL04 standard. Still not sure about the viscosity index

So,

Fuchs Titan GT1 pro flex xtl 5w30 is £30 for 5 litre

While I also found Westway 5w30 for £22 for 5 litre

Both claim LL04 specification- never heard of Westway before. Any ideas?

Thanks

I would recommend checking on www.opieoils.co.uk website who can give a range of recommendations for your car. 5w30 grade is fine. Castrol Edge was original BMW recommendation but Fuchs is well regarded generally and usually better value. Costco do excellent deals on Castrol products if you are a member.
