Key fob issue - can someone help?
2011
Bmw 335i x drive No comfort package Apologies in advance and yes I searched the forums and tried the solutions people tried but nothing is working. My key fob recently stopped unlocking and locking my car. I had to use the metal key to unlock the doors. The car runs and drives fine but doesn't unlock or lock anything. Remedies I tried that didn't work: Replaced fuses Bought a new key from BMW $300 Reset the battery Does anyone have any experience with this? Would def pay someone to diagnose as well if you have the scan tools. Please text me 917-974-8643 |

just curious, you change the battery on your old fob?
Otherwise, your new Key Fob would need to be reprogrammed I believe. |

The new key fob was programmed by BMW and it works the same way the old one I had does. Can unlock with metal key and start and drive the car.
Fm am radio works fine :/ but good idea Does anyone have a really good scan tool? I'm in Brooklyn and maybe it will tell me a fault within my car somewhere |

so your old key fob has a NEW battery? or no?
"My key fob recently stopped unlocking and locking my car." You were probably better off replacing the battery instead... but can you clarify if your are referring to the OLD fob or your new FOB. |

i was told you couldnt replace the battery on a regular key, only the CA access keys. And both the new and old key cannot unlock or lock the car when pressing the buttons. They can only start the car when plugged into the slot. My old key fob does not have a new battery, but the new BMW ordered key fob is registered to my car and doesnt unlock or lock the car when pressing the buttons. I have a strong feeling its a receiver somewhere located on the car that went bad. I believe its not getting a signal to unlock the car. I have also tried to replace the fuses but no dice. appreciate the videos as well but that did not work. |

And I have not tried to reprogram because my key came programmed from BMW. Unless you think I should give it a shot |

I would deff give shot at programming yourself cause it's doubtful they did as they would have had to have a response from the car which they obviously didn't they probably coded the key to the car for ignition purposes but didn't program the transmitter

Will try this later, but in his first step he unlocks the car with the key fob, which my neither of my keys can do.

Its a no go :*( Tried both with the door open and leave the key in for 20 seconds and with the door closed for 20 seconds. I dont mind paying to get it fixed, its just hard to schedule time to get into BMW. Does anyone have any BMW scan tools? i really think it could be the remote transmitter in the car. I heard its located in the trunk by the spoiler or something. |

I live in Brooklyn but can drive to any of the Burroughs or Long Island.
I have a Cobb access port I can scan it with but I need a better scanner. Rhine scan I think it's called. |

I have a couple BMW tools i can check it out with, shoot me a text, 718-440-7666, could be a CAS issue but most likely not because you can still drive the car, but shoot me a text we can figure it out.
