F30 Style V Bar on e90

Has anyone retro fit a front V bar similar to the F30 on to our cars? Love the look of it, especially when painted, and am sure it stiffens up the suspension slightly. Wondering if something such as that would fit on my 328 e90.

Saw a video on YouTube where a guy did this and attached it with zip ties or something stupid like that.

It would go well with some M badges on the car

Yeah, never understood why anyone would want to do this...especially the PVC pipe painted red and and zip tied in place.

Suspension? You don't know cars at all. It doesn't matter what is it used for on F30 as isn't part from the suspension so will have Zero effect on it. Not only on F30 but is there on all new chassis that are build to meet new pedestrian crash regulations that require the bumper/grill to go over the top. This mod is beyond stupid. Can't believe there are few threads on it already.

Hey to each their own for cosmetic.

But dunno, even visually, I actually like looking in between the grill slats and just seeing the radiator. Maybe it's just me. I think that you are obstructing the radiator (though nothing significant at all) and you are adding one more piece that could lead to catastrophe, since it won't be locked into a system tightly (since no mounts exist for it).

Here's my take, if you want some added attention through the stock grill, then add the air scoops that force air directly into the intake (15 min install). Aluminum and they come in a variety of colors including red, so you'd get some attention and add something (well sorta) functional as well.

Is it not used to increase chassis rigidity on the F30?

Wasn't necessarily interested in the cosmetic effect, as much as the chassis bracing it adds if possible. Wasn't even planning on painting the thing.

Well, at least its for a functional concept. But haven't heard of anything structural in that area with regards to structural mods.

Good luck!

One of the stupidest things I've seen on this forum, and that's saying a lot. Lighting your money on fire would have the same effect.

You guys are brutal. If that's what the OP likes on his car, then let him be. It's his car after all. To each his own. Got this guy around here with 3 Porsches. 1 is stock and nice. The other 2 have a bunch of crap on them that make no sense whatsoever but it's his car so whatever. I'll see if I still have pix to post soon of those atrocities.

I'm all for modding your car to you're own tastes. But you cant do something like this espeically with no performance benefit and then complain about "ricey" honda's and other tuners.

If you could make it into an actual performance benefit. Then yes absolutely

Was interested in retrofitting to get the same functionality it has on the F30

What benefit does it have on the F30?

You know in E9X cars there is a crash bar behind the front bumper that is bolted to the front of each frame rails? This bar sits just under the grill and spans the front end. Here it is on my e92...
