If you :
1) do some surgery to the OEM under-seat sub boxes 2) add 1/2" deep 8" MDF sub ring 3) power them with at least 80w RMS 4) set your HP cross over to around 70 to 80 5) install 80mm audio insulation underneath & around the sub box metal incasement 6) block off the port to the side skirts with audio insulation 6) set the gain at maybe 1 notch max. I have mine set at about 3/4 of a notch on my alpine. 7) shim your seats up 1/2" with SS 1/2" nuts & longer SS bolts. (A 1/2" is not a big deal; especially if you never have your seat all the way down to begin with) You will get a really good mid-base sub for underneath your seats. I got the subs for $80-90 each on eBay. They list for $169.00 each on Crutchfield. I have crystal clear sound with my set up including the under seat subs. Blocking off the port was the key. These particular subs don't work well in a ported box, which is how the OEM set up is made. The specs for these subs are ; 50w to 150w rms 600w max 40 to 500hz frequency response 2 3/4 mounting depth To me, the extra effort of shining the seats up & doing a little surgery with a dremmel on the sub boxes was worth it. I know Jenhert makes the best subs for the under the seat subs. I just didn't want to fork over $450.00 for two speakers . I estimate that I saved myself $250 or so, and again I have really good mid-base now. This is my solution. It's not the only solution. There might be better solutions. This is just what I did; take it for what's its worth. The subs have 4.5 star or higher rating on every website that I looked on before I bought by the way, and they are made to be a mid-base sub. |
