The headunit shouldn't let you start installing until you enter a valid FSC code. If you entered a code, and it started installing then the FSC code is valid and either the install was interrupted or corrupted.

If you put the installer USB back into the headunit, the system should continue installing where it left off.

Alternatively, check to see how much free space is left in your media partition. If it gives you a question mark on your hard drive, then the NBT headunit doesn't see your hard drive, which is a whole new set of questions.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but after no luck with the FSC generator, I purchased one online for $8 and it worked like a champ... until I tried to load the maps. I used a single USB stick for 2019 NA premium maps and at 88%, the I drive said that the “DVD” was unreadable.

My vin on the hex file came a 1234567 number vs the correct VIN, which explained why the FSC generator wouldn’t work; however, this is the stock CIC that came from the factory (9/09 2010 build). Is there a chance that this is just a bad map file or does the VIN has something to do with the USB not completing the map install?

Thanks!

Jagaer do I need to generate separate codes if I have a 1-USB Europe Premium East/West Map 2019-1? They look like the full set, about 23.4Gb. In your FSC tool, I had the option to generate codes with 2019-1 and 2019-2. I wasn't sure if it meant that it is the code for 2 separate USB keys or is there a 2019-2 version somewhere out there.

Thank you in advance. Amazing tool.

The generator uses a Lookup file to determine the information needed to make the FSC. It is possible that the 2019-2 information has been added to the Lookup, before the maps themselves have been released.

You will need to generate different FSCs for Europe East and Europe West, as they have different map codes (3E vs 38)

Hello all!

Tried to update to BMW ROAD MAP EUROPE PREMIUM EAST 2019-1 but without success.
Seems like my problem is similar to many here with production time close to my car's trying to use portalseo's script.
My BMW E90 330D production date is 2009-10-29, script does the job but pulls out incorrect 1b 319 bytes without my VIN in the hex file (123456. 1234567.x.1234567).
My VIN is A738203 (WBAPR91000A738203).
Dear Jagaer , is it possible for you to fix this? I saw, that for someone it worked, after you edited the hex file.
At this time with this hex all generated FSC codes, of course, are incorrect, I tried. As well as, I tried some of the closest to my production date, also without success.

My 1b.hex pulled out using the script is in the attachment.
Thank you in advance!

QueenOfDarkness It appears that PortalSEOs script does not work properly on early versions of CIC firmware.

The issue with the "123456" Serial Number is different than other people that had corrupted 1B files. Corrupt 1B files still have the correct information to generate an FSC, the "123456" Serial Number has a default key and will not create a valid FSC.

The only way to get your 1B file is either:
1. Get an ENET Cable, a certain USB/Ethernet Cable (ASIX Chipset) or ICOM to pull the 1B through FTP; or
2. Find a friend with an ICOM than can perform a firmware update on your CIC.

Hi All,

Apologies for the stupid question but just want to make sure before I do this that I don't break anything.

My 2007 E92 M3 has a CIC retrofitted and Navigation currently works, I bought it off ebay and never done anything to activate the Nav don't have an emulator attached and never provided my VIN for an FSC code, the CIC is running version C1A. As the Nav already works in the car I am assuming some form of script activation has been used by the previous owner - He did state the CIC was a retrofit in his car.

I retrofitted the combox to my car and apps worked until the car went to sleep now ConnectedDrive has reverted to BMW Services and I have lost apps.

Does anybody know do I need to remove the script activation from my CIC first before running this?

If so I am assume the only way to remove the script activation is via connecting to the CIC using FTP via ethernet as I don't have an ICOM cable. Is this correct?

As my car isn't prewired for ethernet as its an 07 is there another way to access the CIC or will I just have to wire the the OBD port to the CIC for ethernet?

Thanks

@Jagaer Updated fine, turns out all it needed was the 2019-1 codes. I was confused if it thought the 2019 update was chopped into 2 parts. Turns out it is probably referring to a newer update called 2019-2.

Thanks for the tip

FSC CODE not working.. Help!

Hey Guys - I could use your help with getting my NAV active again. I was able to retrieve the 1b file via the glove-box. selected the file with the generator for the premium north america 2019 map. Code was generated fine. But NAV update says incorrect code. Can anyone help me resolve this problem? Thanks

@John Grey - Can you post your 1B file? I'm going to guess that you have an early version of the CIC firmware, and your 1B file will show VIN 123456 instead of your actual VIN.

Thanks for your reply Jagaer - I've posted my 1b file for you to review. please let me know what you find.
Also you should know , the head unit was replaced with a used one from another vehicle. never got the NAV to work since. "my 328i vin ends with F346745"

@John Gray,

Since the headunit is a retrofit, you may need to activate Nav using either an emulator or script activation. (Script Activation DIY: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1399746 )

I've amended your 1B with your VIN, instead of the donor's VIN...can't hurt to try.

Hi everyone,
I'm moving from Canada to Belgium this summer and will take my BMW x5 2015 with me.
A short explanation will be very appreciated regarding the update of the map since I will change the region (from NorthAmerica to West Europe). I think a simple map update (i.e. installing Europe NEXT 2019-1 ) will not be enough.

The CIC/NBT needs to be "activated" for a region of the world, then maps are "activated" for that region.

If the car was originally from a different region (Turkey, Egypt...), attempting to activate Europe maps will fail.

Other than that, I do not know why it would not work...

Hey Jagaer - thanks for taking the time to correct the 1b file for me. I've tried it but unfortunately with no luck. I'm no expert but will have to figure out this "https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1399746"
option. Any pointers before I head down this rout. I've already purchased the k+DCAN cable, it's the one with a switch selector and limited instructions... which position should the switch be in for my 328i? Anyway wish me luck. lol

For CIC (Premium Maps), Europe East and Europe West both use Map ID 0028, so you should be able to load either set of maps with your 1B and a valid FSC.

I am in North America, so I have never tried to switch between Europe East & West regions. I do know that you need a new FSC (or use Intel123's patcher) to switch between North America and Europe

Input Files
  • The Key Generator will auto-detect and accept either Base64 (Text) or binary FSC file inputs, as well as the file type (1B or NBT). (You can over-ride the detection setting, using the "CIC/NBT" radio buttons).

Support Files
  • The Key Generator will download and use the most recent copy of the BMW "Lookup.xml" file for key generation parameters. In Linux and Windows, this file is stored in the same directory as the Key Generator. For OSX, it is stored in ~/Downloads/
  • The RSAKeys.txt file keeps a copy all submitted RSA keys. The Generator will download and use the most recent copy of the file. In Linux and Windows, this file is stored in the same directory as the Key Generator. For OSX, it is stored in ~/Downloads/

Unsupported Feature
  • It appears that the key stored in the "FSC" file pulled from the car is not necessarily unique to the car, but may be shared across multiple cars built within a short time window.

As an example:

If you would like to help out, and have pulled your FSC file, please send me a copy. I will not include or publish any car-specific information, but will add the FSC file date and RSA key to the RSAKeys.txt file. Hopefully if enough are gathered, some people will be able to create an FSC for their car, without having to pull any files.
