Have I missed any mods for my 335d?

I picked up my 335d last week and I have been buying mods over the last couple of days. Here is what I have so far:

Unobtainium Downpipe
Unobtainium SCR Delete
ATM FMIC
ATM Intake
AaRodriquez EGR Race pipe
AaRodriquez Swirl flap delete

Now I am just trying to decide on a tune. I suspect that the 2.8 and the 2+ tunes are very similar in power. I am most interested in a tune that has great drivability especially in partial throttle situations and on/off throttle response.

I am somewhat local to BPC (2 hours away) but it seems that both JR and BPC are now offering remote tuning options so I guess this becomes a moot point.

Thoughts?

I am also going to do some maintenance and picked up a ZF Transmission Service Kit, Fuel Filter, Cabin Filter and new belts. Any other items that I should address while I am taking it apart?

Harmonic balancer, thermostat, vacuum lines, swirl flap delete blanks...1st 3 really aren't mods, but perhaps preventative maint. I have a 2.8 from Andrew and Jarek, love it

Definitely wanna do vacuum lines before the deletes/tune. Check the HB and thermostat as well.

As far as other mods, I'd probably toss a fuel cooler into the mix.

Charge Hose & Seals - recommended if tuning
New CCV Hose - usually cracked / leaking
Check turbo oil lines for leaks - replace if worn/leaking
Transmission Tune - XHP or DWR
LSD!

I picked some some more mods before I get started tearing this car apart

Fluidampr
Verocious Motorsports 3.5mm silicone vacuum hose
Mahle Thermostat
A local BMW Indy shop is going to walnut blast my valves for me.

I decided on a BPC 2+ Tune since they are local to me.

How do you know the rubber won't wear like the OEM balancer? Do you have wear data or rubber endurance testing you can share with us?

Looks like the PB1689N is made in Italy.

My CZ6 Powerbond is made in Australia, but it is their Race version and it is an underdrive balancer. I didn't realize that this balancer was made in Italy, but you are right and leads me to believe that it is made in one of Dayco's plants instead of Powerbond.

I have changed my mind and decided to buy the Fluidampr and return the Powerbond balancer.

Get a meth kit and BPC stage 3 tune at their shop so they can tweak it for your car....That is the best bet because it can be done on the Dyno....

I would recommend going through BPC to get the carbon cleaning performed vs a local indy (unless you know for certain they've done a diesel before). The diesel procedure is different than that on the gas models and BPC has a good amount of experience with this. The local indy might as well, but its an unknown.

I'm in Greensboro. There are a few modded 335d's around Greensboro, Charlotte and Raleigh. Would be a novel idea to get them all together soon....

I'm over here wiht DUDMD on my X5... Even cheaper, I believe, and is honestly a great tune. Leaves a haze on launch, and don't ask about a cold start at less than 20*f this morning... left a bit of a cloud for a few seconds there, the initial startup enrichment is real. But as far as drivability and power, the DUDMD has given me nothing but splendid thoughts.

What do you mean it's smokey on cold starts? Black smoke? White smoke? Blue smoke?

I get blue smoke on cold starts initially but after that it's clear. That's from a leaking vcg I'm thinking. And I have a high idle for colder days so my D will warms up quickly so no white smoke is usually present.

Also how you liking your x5 tuned so far?

Smoke on a cold start is normal, but should stop after the initial puff. I don't think it went below freezing in the NY tristate region today, but a puff at start-up is more noticeable in cold weather.

As far as FMIC is concerned, it's not required on a 2.8 but recommended. If your tune is aggressive enough to put down 350whp, you should be considering an upgraded FMIC if for anything, to reduce risk of popping OEM plumbing under higher boost. That said, wait until the summer...you'll feel like you lost 20-30hp regardless of tune.

I will be getting a new intercooler soon . Maine is extremely humid in the summer so I don't doubt there will be power lost. If you looked at that dyno though the OP had an intercooler that's why I brought that up. I'm not trying to shit on other tunes or say mine is better (even though I am lol). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on tunes and the OP should be able to choose from all the options, not just the big names (JR and BPC) which aren't "the best tunes" or the most "powerful" by any means.

White smoke, it's just fuel enrichment. No issues, and all cars do this on cold starts.
As for how I'm liking the tuned X5- I LOVE it. It's quick enough to effortlessly pass just about anything, and I can hit just about any gap that my stage 2 (gasser) 335i could on the highway. Much more comfortable to have that extra power on the highway when trying to accelerate all 5k lbs of X5. Launches make me giggle, and leave passengers that appreciate quick vehicles in awe of how an average X5 gets out of it's own way like that, clawing for traction at 4 corners. I've only towed about 2300# behind it, but it was hilariously easy- didn't work the motor any more than normal, honestly. Got 24.5 mpg towing the empty 2 axle car trailer 400 miles home. Currently have 30.9mpg showing on my 300 mile tank, and my gauge reads .4-.8 mpg low every single time. That's holding 70mph on cruise on the interstate, and driving carefully. I'm almost positive that 65mph would return 32 mpg.

I have SOME reservations about the delete, knowing I'm polluting more than I really need to be, but I don't spend too much time thinking about it. The X5d is basically the ultimate everyday man's touring car:
Enough feedback to be fun enough to drive,
Comfortable enough to not worry about potholes or anything like that, and ride smoothly for passengers,
fuel economy on point- 650 mile range no problem on the interstate
And has the power- the oodles of torque are just fun to play with. And that turbo whistle never hurt anyone.

I'm in northwestern NJ, and the gauge was reading 17 when I started her up this morning. Extreme smoke stops like 30 seconds in, as RPM's start to settle. I'm in a local valley, and the cold dense air really does settle in on still mornings. Had to scrape the front off my windshield before pulling out!
