So what's the overall consensus? 60k miles - 100k miles - something in between - or just wait for a misfire?

If it worth anything to you, I've changed my plugs at 100,000 and 200,000 miles. Both times the old plugs looked pretty good and the change did not really make the car run any smoother.

To my untrained eyes the old plugs looked like that had some wear left but I felt that 100,000 is enough.

If you like to spend money, that’s fine, but seems pretty unnecessary.
Did anyone said misfire could cause any damages?

But I know it won't run fine for sure with a bad coil and bad Plugs kills Coil.

6 spark plugs are about $60

One coil is around $30

So you can do the math, you would end up throwing more money away when you need to replace 6 spark plugs and few coils. Plus old and over used spark plugs loses some power.

Bmw recommend changing it every 45k. They don't recommend for no reason.

Do whatever you want change your sparks at 100k oil change 10k or don't change it at all. But will see whose car would be in a better shape I guess.
