I have a set of Focal Inside IS BMW 100L speakers on order fory front doors. I also am in the process of installing the JBL DSP4086 amp. My question is this: I've heard that the low pass crossover should normally be around 250hz,but I see that the Focals have a frequency response of 80 - 23k Hz, which is a much lower low end than the stock door speakers. Should I set the low pass lower than 250? How much lower?

Second Question: I'm also considering earthquake subs, but I have been concerned by reviews that they do not perform well for mid bass. Would the Focal door speakers alleviate this problem since their frequency response comes down lower? In other words, would the Focal door speakers compensate for the Earthquakes' midbass deficiency?

If you want full range midbass that is highly accurate and warm.

That amp doesn't have a lot of power.

I have my low-pass crossover set as low as it will go. That is what sounds best to my ears. I recommend you experiment with it if you can.

did you eq the speakers? i hate the high end of my focals.

If you have a passive physical crossover in the doors set it to the - setting
-3b is recommended. You can play with the dsp or amp crossovers to
find what's best.

Jehnert XE 200's are the best under seats for the most range and accuracy
in mid high priced speaker.

Morel doors go even lower than Focal's it's the high end you have to worry about
in the door speakers. 4 inch speakers just aren't going to support the low end that well.
