Am I crazy? Delete MULF and Get Aux Through CCC Headunit?
Hi all,
I have a semi-crazy idea, but it seems like it might be the best solution. I've been banging my head against this issue since I bought the car, there was a failed rear shock mount that cut the MOST bus and a lot of copper wires for the audio system, zero audio when I bought the car (Logic 7). I replaced the fiber optics with a harness that I nabbed from a junkyard and got audio through the logic 7 working, but I cannot get the AUX audio in, or any audio sources other than CD/DVD and oddly bluetooth for the phone to work. The AUX input is there on my idrive screen, but I cannot select it.I also cannot select the radio. I'm thinking of deleting the S6FL from the VO, adding +NAUX, then doing the default coding and add a wire directly to the headunit for aux. The end goal here is to install an android screen and have carplay etc. For some annoying reason these devices need to use the aux input for audio, and mine currently is non-functional. What do you all think? Am I nuts? Will it work? |

Yes, it's work
but you will need additional cable if you replaced the MOST harness, then you should also move the MULF connection from old MOST concentrator to new one and all will be ok.

Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy! I was planning on just looping the MOST for the MULF, what is this concentrator you speak of? I'm not wondering if this could be the issue that I'm having.

Going to be using these instructions to get the wiring of the new AUX in correct.

So +NAUX isn't a valid code for the e93 apparently, I get an error in NCS expert when I try to add it, I got the aux audio working (YAY) but it appears that it's mono and without subwoofers due to using the aux in on the head unit without the coding being done, anyone have any ideas of what coding will enable the full "AUX" experience with this setup?

If you have the early Idrive there are about 4 to 5 files that control the options.
You can read the files in NCS Dummy then edit them that way or just go into the raw files. Programming out 6fl may also cause reversion to Aux from Head unit. This is question that is almost never asked. The most often asked question is changing from Logic 7 to Hi Fi . http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=stereo CHOST CAPPL CGATE CAUDI CTUNE the above are the files for the old idrive. When you change the VO the effected modules must be coded this guy calls it reset. there are a bunch more like this if you google for them. You might have been better off to get the Mulf 2 hi or combox to work . Last edited by ctuna; 11-03-2022 at 05:54 PM.. |

Thanks again ctuna, I did get this to work by removing 6FL and then default coding the idrive modules, the audio quality is limited, which I think is down to some coding around that particular input. I'm checking out NCS dummy, but it's a little less helpful for something this unusual. The e60 instructions were what I was trying, but NCS Expert threw an error that the FA +NAUX was not valid for this FA. I didn't want to risk writing it to the VO if it's not valid.

The Aux sucks how many times do I have to say it.
There is no special coding for that Input. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1002984 There is discussion in the above link about it . It is long with people going through all kinds of gyrations to make it better. Comes down to Aux sucks Can be improved by using a DAC in front But still not as good as something that goes directly into the Most Bus. E60 instructions will be the same for the E89 chassis E90 . It's the same Head Unit they use that same system throughout all the chassis in a similar time frame. Programming will be the same. |

Gotcha, too bad that the AUX sucks so badly, I guess I will deal with the crappy quality, it’s nice having all the features and being able to connect with my phone properly. I can burn a few more audio DVDs if I really want to listen to quality.

I bought one of these usb and sd card provides as good as cd quality if you burn the audio at high bit rages. Bluetooth is not to bad but less than what you get from the other sources. Used to cost about 150. |
