Which Castrol oil do we use?
I am searching around for the right Castrol oil for my 2011 328.
Should we use 0w30? 0w40? or 5w40? I know I should look for something with BMW LL-01, but Canadian tire web site doesn't show these on description So just wondering which one I should use? Castrol Edge? SPT? Titanium? And we need like 7L, right? Thanks in advance. |

But OEM uses 5w30. But I heard not all weights are BMW LL-01. 0w30 will be the closest one? Thanks. Last edited by armansiu; 09-20-2016 at 08:53 PM.. |

Any Castrol at Canadian Tire that is labeled LL-01 should be fine. If you're not doing track work, I wouldn't bother with anything else and just stick with OEM from the dealer or any oil you can find at the cheapest price that's labeled LL-01.

I swapped mine with some Synthetic Castrol Edge 0W-40 from Canadian Tire. Can't beat the price when that goes on sale!

Keep an eye out for sales.
Partsource recently had a sale where a 5L jug + 1L (great for us extended intervalers) was... I think CAD$38+tax. I stocked up! |

Looks like it's 5Qt in the US, but the bottles I bought from Partsource are 5L. L vs Qt is only a 5% difference anyway. Partsource also stocks Mann filters. Sad we went through all this good advice, found a sale at a convenient location, then OP went to the dealership and paid 50% more... |
