Bluetooth and armrest USB port stopped working. Where is the BT antenna located?

Also would appreciate any other suggested areas to troubleshoot. Stopped working randomly a month or so ago and my battery died today. Had the dealer replace and code my new car battery but still have a dead armrest usb port and no Bluetooth functionality.

I've already looked at all the fuses located behind the glovebox - all good.

Any ideas? Where is the BT antenna located? Will check connections.

Garage List
2007 335i e92  [1.00]
its on the panel under the dash on the drivers side. There are 3 or 4 T20 screws then you can drop the panel and its towards the back on the left side.

USB comes through the Mulf 2 hi or Combox on most e90's
why do you think its the antenna. The USB being out would
point to those modules. or the USB Hub on a Mulf 2 hi car.

Ctuna-are those the two boxes under the truck carpet panel? Wonder if something just loosened up.

I’m wondering about the BT antenna too because my BT is also not working and that happened at the same time my armrest USB port stopped working.

Blue tooth comes through the same modules.
TCU = bluetooth phone (2007 and 2008 )
Mulf 2Hi =bluetooth phone and usb (2008 and 2009)
combox= bluetooth phone, usb and a2dp music in the newer cars
with Nav.

There are also some combinations of TCU and ULF
I think that is bluetooth phone and ipod not sure.

Use a free online vin checker to find out what your factory
installed options are.
Post the part no on the box or boxes you find in the trunk
and in where they are located.

If you have a box on the left side it's most likely a Sat Module.
Check the model and part no of the box under the carpet on the right side.
check connections and fuses to it.

Thanks guys. I only have one box in the trunk (my car is a 2011). All the connections were fine. Guess it’s failing. I’ll check to see how much it is. I assume if I replace it it will require some sort coding?

Best to print out the option list to see what was installed
in the car in the first place and putting up the actual part
no on the Box before proceeding.

You won't like the price from the dealer.

I’m really not familiar with the whole coding process. Replacing the actual combox seems super easy-a few bolts, several electrical connections and that’s about it.

Ctuna-What do you mean print out the option list?

Ptpending-I’m all ears if in fact I can buy a “plug and play” pre-coded com box. Please PM me a quote. What exactly goes wrong with these things? Seems crazy that yet another electronic control module is going out on my car!

If you have pt program up one for you .
You will need to get that part no of the box you have now
and I think the Vin number needs to be programmed into it
to.

BMW uses a architecture that has a lot of sub modules for various
parts of the car. They are programmable modules that allow the same
modules to be used across a wide range of there cars. They only need
to program them for the specifics of the car they are put in.
There can be 10 or more controller or sub modules that are programmable
including the radio or idrive/nav.
Almost all cars do this now to a greater or lesser degree.

That means they can customize the options by programming the modules
and save costs by either putting them in or leaving them out in some cases.

Since you are allowed to repair your car and shops are to, access to this
programming have been made public or figured out by enthusiasts.

There is what is called a coding sub forum in e90post that tells you how
to install a coding and diagnostic setup on your PC. If you want to DIY getting one of these is a good idea. (And its cheap, but not uncomplicated for the non technical person)

https://www.bmwvin.com/

put the last 7 digits of your vin into the above
and post it here.

Before you jump to the conclusion you have a bad combox
or mulf 2 hi .
is there anything else that is not working ?
Did you verify what module you have?
Do you have a Sat module for instance?(on the left side)

There are three things not working at the moment:

1.) armrest USB port;
2.) Bluetooth for phone (can’t connect)
3.) Driver’s side comfort access

Ran the VIN decoder the PDF is attached below
