Question Working in the UAE?

I've recently been thinking I wouldn't mind working in the UAE for a few years, nice weather, culture works well for me and moneys good!

Question I have for anyone who has done this/is doing this is how do you start?? Where do you find the work?

I have done plenty of job searching and signing up to agencies in the UK whenever I have changed jobs but don't know where you would look for jobs abroad??

I'm in the IT field (Cisco Networking Engineer) so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful

Urfan

I take it you've done the CCNA etc?

If so I'm sure there'd be no shortage of work although you might find yourself more in Abu than Dubai in this climate I guess?

Dubai is sort of skint having been bailed out by Abu Dhabi a couple of years ago. Abu has the oil after all.

Although there is still lots of construction work going on in Dubai it is vastly down on what it was before 2008.

Ive always thought it would be really cool to work there for a while and I hear that they have IT jobs but can never bloody find any!

Ive used jobserve and monster and have tried googling for other agencies for the UAE region but cant tell the difference between the serious ones like jobserve and monster and the useless spamming ones!

EDIT: Just come accross GulfTalent.com which seems OK too!

The UAE is not my cup of tea. However you usually get a good job by getting it in your home country, the UK in this case. Then you get housing allowances, salary uplift etc etc. It usually works out a lot better than just turning up and looking.

I may be able to put you together with someone too.

The company I work for was looking for engineers in UAE recently and I was approached to see if I was interested in moving out there for a couple of years.

I'm a storage engineer working on tiered storage (SAN, NAS, CAS etc)

If you want, I can submit your CV to our HR

Yup, all received buddy.
Speaking with Grant tomorrow and he'll be in touch with you directly.
I hooked up with him when I went to the Abu Dhabi GP last year and IRS a phenomenal lifestyle out there.
