TPMS problem help!

Hi guys,
I have a 2009 335i coupe and just bought a OEM wheel style 230's (19s) came off from 2012 BMW 335i.

My current TPMS does not fit on the style 230's wheels. I did some searching and found that these (Huf/Beru TPMS Sensors BMW RDE012). Will these cause any errors? Do I need to go to the dealer to reset?

The difference in the sensor between the 2009 and 2012 are mostly in the frequency that they use for communication, though there is a slight difference in size. As far as the size, there shouldn't be a problem, the valve stem angle is adjustable by loosening the torx retention screw and the cavity in the wheel barrel should accommodate both.

If you use the proper sensors for your vehicle (older generation, not newest generation) you should not need a dealer to reset your sensors, you can reset it through your iDrive or steering column lever.

Thanks for the feedback. Went to a couple local tire shop today and they said the valve stem does not fit on the 230s wheel. I totally disagree with what they said. You nailed it, I think they need to loosen up the stem in order to fit through.

I have 230s on my 2009 they are original to the car... can't imagine why they would have changed but who knows.

Found out that the valve stem from my 09 will not fit the 230s wheel that came from 2012. I will need to buy new stems and transfer my sensors. The part number for the stem is - 36 13 6 775 937

I am confused by this. I just ordered a set of 230 reps. I was going to just transfer my TPMS to the new wheels. I have a 2008 335. I was under the impression that they would transfer over just fine.

Your saying there is a different valve stem required for the 230s? I thought they were all the same.

You can also by adapters. Same ones used for the 90 deg valve stem.

My 230 sets came from 2012 e92 and 'YES' there are two versions of the 230s (pre Sept 2011 and post Sept 2011). That being said, it uses two versions of the valve stem. Yours are REPS, so it might not be a problem.

I will know tomorrow. Hopefully my tpms will fit.

If not then I will report back. But I had no idea there was 2 runs of the wheels. Is there anyway to tell visually just by looking at the OEMs?

There's no way to tell visually. The only difference is the size of the diameter where the valve goes in. My original valve stem didn't fit through - it was too small. Hope it all works out for you. At this point I still have not purchased my valve (no time cuz of work). I'm using a rubber valve stem running with no TPMS.

My knock offs fit the standard valve stemss.

I looked on ECS website and found these special ones for the OEM 230s.
