Help needed.
Hi, so many people will probably laugh after reading this and I don't blame you but I'm reaching out for help from anyone. Last summer I got a gift from my grandfather and it was his 07' 328xi, a wonderful gift. The car has nearly 190,000 miles and still runs great and trust me I try my hardest to take car of it in anyway I possibly can. Anyways! The car is all stock and I want to give her a new look by getting some new rims. My problem is, is that I don't know much about buying rims and their fittings. Also, all of the tires on the car have a lot of life still left in them so I was wondering if I could just buy new rims for the tires, and because I'm still in high school so I don't have much money to buy new tires. If this is possible and someone can point me in the right direction, the tires are 225/45 R17
Thanks

?Can I buy new rims and put them in my current tires that are perfectly fine?
If so.... ?What rim sizes will fit in 225/45 R17 tires?

Look at this site and filter out the E90 OEM rims:
http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ If you are using 225/445 R17 tires and want to remount them, then the rims need to replicate what you have, which is probably 17x8, bolt pattern 5x120, ET 34, weight about 22 pounds. There are plenty of them for sale on Craiglist and eBay and even the local dealers might have sales on them for $260 or so brand new. If you are a member of BMWCCA, some dealers will give a 10 or 15% discount. If you want improved performance, check out aftermarket rims that weigh less at Tire Rack and Apex Racing Parts. Another option with With Tire Rack is to buy new tires with wheels mounted and balanced. Unless your tires have tread of 7/32nds or more, I would not waste money taking them off and remounting. Just use them for another year or two or sell the original set with tires for $400 or so, depending upon the desirability of the rims and tires. One of my favorite OEM rims for the E90 is the Style 32. That style is very classic and has been used on BMWs for years back to the E36s and even 1, 5 and 7 series. You rarely see them on E90s and there is only one OEM model for it, which is the perfect spec for your tires, if you want the same weight and performance as OEM. My dealer had them on sale for $260 or so in April, or you can occasionally find them for sale on eBay for $220 or so reconditioned. Do a search for "BMW 36116775616" and you will find them. Personally, I am going with something like the Apex ARC 8 17x9 ET 30 wheels with the 245/40 R17 tires. That is a nice fat tire and wheel for you that weighs less than what you have by 41 pounds or so with non run flats. Get a mobility kit and go non run flats.
