Having some problems after the AFe header install. After 500+ miles my check engine light comes on. Error code 29f5 and 29f4, not sure if it's the post o2 sensors or not. A few things I've check and completing my car is running like crap

1.Unplugged intake sensor while car is on an idle fluctuations persisted.
2. Cleared lambda and reset adaptations, waiting for light to come back.
3. Clean Vanos
4. Replacing fuel pressure regulator
5.already change spark plugs
6: changing tunes, AA tune power not consistent

After 5 years and 60K km my aFe headers are toast. It started to spit peaces of honey come. With aFe headers, N54 intake, big bore TB and BPC software I had 292.5 PS and 291.6 Nm @ 7321 RPM. I replaced the headers with catless Supersprint headers. This week I’m taking the car on dyno to see if there will be gain with the Supersprint headers.

Did the catted AFE's keep the exhaust volume (sound) down much compared to the Supersprints?

Supersprint headers exhaust volume is slightly higher but not by much (I have Supersprint exhaust).

Did you accidentally swap out o2 sensor positions? Check that 1st. Some people done it and it resulted in similar issues you are having.

This dyno calculates crank power. It corresponds with my Awron display.

I was thinking that but I marked them prior to install and made sure I didn't do that... I scanned with BT tool and found several codes. Cleared them and now seems to be running fine but will see thanks for the heads up...

If I want power on the wheel closest dyno is 200 km from here. This dyno is close from me and has some Italian software giving power in PS (metric horsepower). BMW indicates power for all models in PS (330i with N53 has 272 PS).

AFE headersAFE secondary delete+PE+3IM.

Update: After several research the o2 codes 29f4 and 29f5 are related to stock Bmw o2 reading threshold causing the SES light also causing Erratic idle on cold starts.

Several other possibilities are, which I have checked.

Bank 2 sensors crossed mix
Bank 2 sensors going bad

Checked voltage
Bank 1 both at 2.00v
Bank 2 both at .78v

Exhaust leaks

Mass air flow sensor

Finally made it to dyno (I had a problem with ABS which I had to deal with first). The graph compares aFe headers and Supersprint headers. Light line is aFe, heavy is Supersprint. 297.23 PS / 307.02 Nm
Gain of 4.7 in hp and 15.4 Nm in torque.

Too bad they cut it off early, the N54 manifold peaks at 7200RPM I think.

But that looks like a gain of 20hp in some areas.

With aFe headers peak hp (292) was @ 7,321 RPM. With Supersprint peak hp (297) was @ 6,920 RPM.

From what I'm seeing, the SS graph terminates at around 69XX and doesn't make it that high - I assume the peak would actually be higher as a result.

So would there be any emissions issues with these afe high flow cats in Illinois or is it pretty much a non-issue everywhere outside of California?
No codes or CEL thrown whatsoever?

As long as they don't have visuals AFE will pass. Im thinking about selling mines which are brand new from AFE, not sure yet. In the box waiting to be installed 🤗

why would AFE fail with a visual?? , they still have the primary and secondary cats in place

I believe last time I checked. Carb stickers are applicable with the visual requirements?

I don't believe Illinois has visuals; just got emissions testing a few weeks ago and was completely straight piped (aside from stock headers). Passed. They didn't check under the car (to see if my secondaries were still there).
