Well it wouldn't let me swap (outwardly) identical parts from another BMW. How the heck would you get a 2J to work? WAY too much trouble.
My next beemer, though, I'm pretty sure will be a Lexus.

e84 (x1) and e89 (z4) have 8-speed after 2012MY with N20 engine

Using the BMW vin decoder http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi
It shows Transmission "Unknown" under my chassis number, but under "additional info for vehicle code WB33" it shows the zf transmission. I just checked and this is not correct, it's the GM transmission. If under your specific chassis number it says unknown for transmission, then you need to physically check it to determine whether ZF or GM. I'm happy, there is a huge difference in cost to replace fluid/filter for the 2 trannys. |
