EVOgone, go for the CA Automotive map. It's really good. Tell Roy peppernick recommended you to him, and ask for a discount

Didn`t have it on a RR before but checked it on 2 different RRs after and again after the 2 mapping. They claimed that their first map was overwritten at the dealers (went in for new tyre when 5 mths old) but I`ve spoken to them and they say my car has never received a software update. I also find it hard to beleive that my car would be putting out 212 hp in standard form (should be 197) and that a re-map of a 3.0 diesel was only able to raise it from 212 hp (supposedly standard) to 225 hp.

Don`t assume the most expensive will always be the best.

£525 for my 335D. Mine was their first. They have mapped plenty of other BMWs before.

That's a good price. When they've done some more I'd consider it.

It's 500 if you go to DMS's site and ask for discount, plus cost is not the issue.

DMS quote the best figures and every seems happy to recommend them.

But no one has RR their car to see if they get what they paid for...

Would be great to organise a RR day and compare a Superchips car vs DMS car vs CA vs any other tuner vs std.

I can sort a RR day in the NW with one of my friends RR.

If you go to their site (location in andover) and ask for a discount then you can get it down to 500 quid.

Some of the 535d's were rolling roaded and they were pushing out quoted figures, and the way the power curve looked was also impressive.

I suppose most who get it done won't be bothered about the figures. They'll know they now have a faster car. Plus there's the expense and time involved.

To be honest if you pay full price for the DMS RR should be included.!!

Would be interesting if the DMS mapped car didnt achieve 208hp..!! as that why they pay top dollar as everyon else offers 196 hp..

If the running in period was so critical there would be something built into the ECU preventing it being over pushed.

People tend to pay top dollar for DMS for a couple of reasons, I would not say that any of them are for the highest BHP.

I went with DMS because their maps feel freat to drive, very smooth power curves and plenty of push, no sudden spikes of power like some remaps.
I would always go for a smooth power curve with sligtly less power all through the range than one that has a massive spike at 4000rpm that gives a higher bhp on paper.

Another reason I chose DMS is they come out to you house free of charge when BMW over write the ecu with updates, twice they came out to me within a few days, that is worth a lot to me.

They also hide their maps, they roll back the ecu counter to the only way BMW can know that it is remapped is by sending your ecu back to Bosch, again very important, just look at the others like Superchips, scan it with a basic tool and you can see its remapped, not good!

Warranty. DMS have an insurance policy that says if BMW refuse any insurance work due to them saying you have a remapped car DMS will cover all costs.
Now I have heard a couple fo cases where tuners have fried the ecus when trying to write teh map and left the customers in the shite, I am not going to say which tuners as it was sorted in the end, but it took a while and got a little heated, now I can't personally be arsed with all that.

I paid £700 for Mike Cooper to do my 535d and he came back out twice to remap it after BMW had overwritten the map, so for me it was well worth spending £2-300 more than the others. It took over 1 seccond off the 0-60mph times and nearly 3 seconds off the sprint to 100mph.
You don't need a rolling road to spot the difference, it was outstanding!!

BHP figures mean nothing, speak to Mike at DMS, he is the one that told me that, he explained that they could get extreme figures from remapping but it wouldn't be a nice drive just nice for the adverts, nothing more. A remap is so much more.

Gizze, I too went to DMS for all the same reasons but if figures aren`t important they shouldn`t imply that they`re maps will produce certain fugures.

I don't think Gizze is saying the figures aren't important - he's saying that the BHP figures quoted shouldn't be the only factor considered. Unfortunately the rest of the world is apparently focussed on BHP figures so the tuners I presume have to quote them.
