Overnight parts inflation
I ordered new boost solenoids last week for $66 each. They were delivered and I was looking at my order online to make sure I got the right ones, and I noticed they're now $92. 40% higher in just a few days, glad I got them when I did.

Bimmerworld S52 factory oil cooler kits went from $999 to $1,300 over the last couple of weeks.
Don't know if it was a '4th of july' sale or general inflation. Could be BMW updating their parts books, as that kit consists entirely factory components. I don't know what the fiscal calendar looks like in Germany. -------------- Now that I think about it, I'm leaning toward an across the board price hike by BMW. Was cross shopping stuff between FCP, ECS, Pelican, and Bimmerworld... Some unusual stuff Bimmerworld was much more affordable. Starting to think they were just the last to get the memo.

Not sure if this is still true, but at one point in time auto manufacturers were required to maintain part availability for 14 years after a vehicle was produced. Typically after that point parts in warehouses were sold off to resell vendors and usually at that point the pricing would go up. So if OEM parts prices go up, the aftermarket vendors usually run their prices up also.
So at this point... E9x cars are getting very close to that 14 year end point. Pre-LCI are already past it. |
