1er rims on e93? :/
So I am looking for new set of rims for my e93. Currently running stock MV3's and I want to get a set of 313's, whick I can not find in 18'' with proper offset. MV3's are:
18x8J ET34 - front, and 18x8.5J ET37 - back. And 313's from 1 Series: 18x7.5J ET49 - at the front, and 18x8.5J ET52 - back. I guess with proper spacers they will fit correctly. Something like 15mm at the back as width of the rim is the same, and something like ~21mm in front, 15mm difference in offset + ~6mm as front rim is narrower for roughly 12mm. Am I correct or nah? Also, how convenient is to run spacers? Will I need longer bolts or they are fine? Not sure about same rims, 313, with proper offset, do they have more ''meat'' in the middle where bolts are, or whole design of the rim is different there? - if you understand what I an trying to say. And last question, as front one is narrower, tyre need to be 215 instead of 225 - will this be an issue? Thanks. |

The 1-Series wheels can definitely work, but will require spacers as you mentioned. Front 12mm spacers and Rear 18mm spacers will put those wheels in the realm of OEM fitment for your E93.
Any time spacers are used (even small 3mm ones) you'll need to use extended wheel bolts to ensure you get proper (safe) thread engagement in the car's hub. The OEM bolt length is 25mm, so you can add the spacer thickness to that to find out what length of bolts you'll need. In the 12f/18r scenario you'll want 38mm front bolts (37mm is not commonly available) and 43mm rear bolts. In regards to the wheels having more "meat" in the mounting pad area, all BMW wheels will be roughly the same. Offset has no effect. This means you'll only need extended wheel bolts if you're using spacers, regardless of the wheel's offset. You're correct on the tire width, a 7.5" wide wheel is best suited to a 205-225 width tire. You can run the 225s without issues if you're looking to re-use your current tires. Hope this helps! --Dylan
