should i trade my '11 E92 335 for this? so stumped
Dealer just got a 2003 E46 M3 with 24,xxx miles. Jet black on black, 6spd, prem sound....car is absolutely flawless. Also has a AA Exhaust and Dinan Cold Air/Software. I am seriously considering trading in my e92 on it. I am so heartbroken because I absolutely love my E92, and the torque is awesome, but ever since they did the software update on it the throttle has been absolutely dead and I find myself getting angry at the car instead of enjoying it. I drove the M3 and it felt absolutely amazing. Now, my question is: for those who had E46 M3s and now have 335s or vice versa, did you miss the technology of the E92? What about the torque? I am having such a hard time deciding I had to turn to the community to see what the consensus is. Thanks guys.

What he said ^
Now, I do have 2 questions for you: 1. What software update are you taking about? PPK? I have it and no problems with throttle ... 2. I have been pondering PE ... do you lose burble from PPK when you add PE? Thanks!

would not go for the M3, outdated and out of money if you trade your's in. hell if you want an e46 with all Dinan upgrades that blue with 60k. I know someone that would trade you + cash. Immaculate condition too with SMG.

I would obviously get cash on top. I wouldn't want an smg, a 6spd is what I have been looking for. I havent been able to find one with this low of mileage anywhere that is priced as reasonably as this one is. And the PE makes the burble even more ridiculous it turns from burble into straight popping, my car sounds like flak fire on overrun, it even lets off a big backfire sometimes. here is a video i took at low speeds.

For the e92 M3 yes yes, for the old shit no thanks. Im sure they handle like a dream blablah but they dont look that great next to a new one imo and like chicks dig the better looking cars.

Your car is worth way more than the M3, E46 M3 is a cool car, but no warranty, more expensive to repair and older tech. I would keep the E92 and just get a decent flash on it to fix your issue with lag!

if you like it so much, buy it as a second car and get the best of both worlds.

If it is what you are looking for do it ! Sounds like you have been looking for a while. Put the cash you get in the bank.
Later if you get tired of it you will be able to find an e92 much easier than the e46 M3 in the condition you want.

I had an 02 M3 before my 335 and I would not even think about going back. A customer of mine has E46 M3 with the AA supercharger kit and I still feel like my tuned 335 is faster, in a straight line anyways. Not to mention the added features.
Don't get me wrong the E46 M's were awesome cars, but you basically have to drive it at the limit to appreciate it.

I say do it. The E46 is timeless. No offense to 335 owners, but you are getting all these responses saying no because they are typically obsessed with their cars. You'll get a substantial amount back. Save that money maybe for repairs. Have a PPI done if all checks out how's the M3 more risky than a turbocharged-electrionic-gadeget-filled car any better?

Not with socks that high...
Serious: I wouldn't trade in.. I would love an E46 M3...but to trade in a damn there new car - doesn't make much sense. I would be nervous about the cost of ownership... If you were looking to just buy a car then YES! But to trade in a new 335i...NO. |

Similar situation here, except I'm pondering picking up an E46 M3, making it a (mostly) track car and keeping my E90 as a DD (lightly modified). I'd definitely want to add some boost down the road though.
I'm probably with most everyone else. Don't trade such a new car in, just buy the M3! |

I would say no but one thing I have to say for sure though. Those teal shorts have got to go.
