intake kit for 09 328i

i am aware of the afe and the k&n intake kit but is there any other one someone recommends? both of those range around 400-600 bucks im looking obviously for most bang for my buck without sacrificing anything like getting a generic one or off brand one... so any suggestions?

Get the BMW performance intake. It's about $600 if you find it on a deal and not only does it look awesome, it's OEM.

Any intake for your 328i is a waste of money.

Haha yeah but we do it any way. Cheaper get euro box or a used gruppe-m replica intake. I barely if any "feel" gains but I got it for more sound to the exhaust. Just tune it and play with exhaust set ups. I'll make a clip later showing stock air box but loud enough exhaust set up. Cutting your charcoal filter, no point honestly.

If you want it just for sound, best bang for your buck is an injen intake. You won't see much power gains any way you go.

He didn't ask whether it was worth it or not.

He kind of did by phrasing the question as "best bang for the buck".

Eurobox, by far. Not only does it make the induction louder, but it's also much more practical when it comes to filter replacement - just pop the top of the box open and the filter is right there. It's also cheap.

Cost no object? BMW Performance Intake (Euro model available?). Otherwise, the Euro intake. The stock unit is good, runs cold air, has an excellent filter (K&N, AFE slightly less restrictive, slightly less filtering), but is a PITA for filter replacement. Most of the other intakes make more noise and shave a couple horsepower.

Any one have a picture of the K&N air filter in-let for the euro box? I'm wondering if you can fit a different brand/spec in there other than k&n.

OEM or K&N are the only ones of which I'm aware. I'm weary of oil-soaked filters given MAF sensitivity to gumming up.

no im not referring to it being "more bang for buck" i don't mean power-wise i am aware of the "no power gains" simply for sound purposes is my main reason it...

but like i stated i don't want a strait metal pipe with a generic filter on the end and call it a day.... id like to see something "name respectable" go on a bimmer

Since there is little "bang" to be had, look at which costs the least number of bucks. carbon delete, drop in performance filter. You can also cut out your intake muffler. Makes it a bit louder. That costs about $1.50 for a rubber stopper and some glue. Then depending on what drop in filter you get that costs $35-80. Plus about 2+ hours of labor for all of it. You get a little better throttle response and sound. Thats all youre going to get from any intake

I have the Euro airbox with K&N filter.
Makes it very easy to change the airfilter because you just have to unscrew the lid.

Not sure what intakes do. However, the BMW performance intake looks nice when installed. Too bad you only see it when your hood is open. I would like to know what it will do for a 328. I was contemplating getting it to go along with the PE, I just dont know what the benefits are of the intake.

In regards to the 328's it will free up airflow over stock and combined with the PE, get more performance out of the system. By itself, you will see a little better throttle response but it does not make power. If you use an open air system, you usually see losses in power in the 328. If you are on a budget, the charcoal delete plus k&n in the stock box does the same thing as the euro & PI but is a PiTA to check/change.

So the euro filter just slips up from the box without having to remove the entire unit?

That is very convenient
