another tracking question
My status calling the 800 number for the last few days has been "in the paint shop with and estimated completion data of 9/28. I called again this morning and it had jumped to "being transported to the port of exit". Does that suggest that my car was completed before today?
I'm trying to ball park what ship I might end up on. Thanks everyone |

The thing I found was that the 800# was about 24 hours behind the actual status. I would think your car finished production yesterday or the day before. Since it takes about 3 days to get to Bremerhaven, I would think your car may go on one of the ships leaving 10/6 - the Fedora or Undine. It might possibly go on the Tomar leaving 9/29 but that might be a long shot given the timing.
For mine, the 800# indicated that it had completed production the day before it had the message "being transported to the port of exit...I called the number every day... Last edited by renaultf1; 09-28-2010 at 11:35 AM.. |

On Friday of last week it said it was in the paint shop it said the same on Monday when I called, but today it moved to ""being transported to the port of exit" seemed to skip a bunch of steps for me. |

Since the Owner's Circle seems to be really far behind, what you can do is check the Wilhelmsen website the day after the ship leaves on the 29th. You'll need your VIN to enter in "Track & Trace". Mine showed up on the Wilhelmsen site the next morning even though the 800# indicated it was still at port awaiting a shipping vessel.

My car was built on 9/16 and it just changed to waiting for a vessel this morning. It took almost 2 weeks to move from Munich to Bremerhaven. I sure hope it'll make Tomar. I'll be on foot starting Friday once I return my leased Passat.

I ordered on 8/25 and i'm beginning to doubt i'll get the car within 8 weeks of order. it could happen but planets need to allign. I need to make one of the 10/6 boats and then the car needs to make it from the port in NY to Boston in 6 days.

The one thing I learned about my car was that it was scheduled for shipping with Wilhelmsen 2 days before it actually finished production according to Wilhelmsen's website. Last edited by renaultf1; 09-29-2010 at 03:09 PM.. |

It looks like there are ships that go to Galveston but I don't know if that's what BMW does, I didn't notice he was in TX either. |

Ok so did some searching and it looks like TX cars do go to Galveston and the ships are less frequent. His car was done on the 16th but the next ship wasn't until the 28th

You can ask your CA for a copy of your vehicle inquiry report. It will have a port code on it which you can use to figure out where your car is headed. |

This is what my CA wrote me today:
"The vehicle arrived at Port/compound on the 28th. Still awaiting ship assignment. It will more than likely be shipped to the Brunswick, GA Port/compound. When it is loaded on a ship they will give us an ETA to Brunswick." So I'm guessing my car is headed to Brunswick, GA. There is Courage leaving on the 3rd arriving on the 20th and there is Undine leaving on the 6th arriving on the 25th. I hope I'll be on Courage. |
