Battery registration after tune
After getting the DME flashed with a tune, is the battery registration history erased? If so, is there coding that needs to be done when getting a new battery or just a registration? I'm under the impression that registering a new battery uses the previous battery registration as it's baseline. I'm asking in reference to the Foxwell 510 scanner.

DDE flash with a tune should not erase your battery details. If you are replacing a battery with the same type and capacity you just need to reset. Otherwise, register and reset. If you are keeping your existing battery you don’t need to do anything. Not sure for Foxwell, but ISTA can pull your existing battery details and registration/reset history.

It also shows the last 3 or 4 registrations. It shows this by the mileage (in Kilometers of all things) and not by date. Mine showed 0 Kilometers for all implying a battery was never registered. I also looked a 2007 335i and it showed the same.
Not sure the difference between resetting and Registering a battery, but the NT510 uses the word Register. |

A side note; I like my NT510. Last weekend, I changed the fuel filter, the auto transmission filter/pan and differential oil.
With the NT510, I was able to activate the lift fuel pump to purge the air and reset the transmission adaptation. Everything went smoothly. I also have Carly BMW but I will say the NT510 is way superior to Carly. |

So, now that my hand is forced I'm thinking about getting an H8 instead of an H7. I took out my old battery and noticed there is another spot to screw in the battery tie-down about 1.5 inches away. Were they anticipating the switch to the H8?
