Valentine One not working all of a sudden.....

So I had this hardwired in using the Sunroof power supply. I've had it for about 4 years, and just a couple days ago, it stopped working.....

I followed the DIY on this forum for the hardwire, I'm sure it's grounded correctly and also tapped it correctly using the 'vampire' fuse/wire tap that came with the Valentine.....

I have no idea why it stopped working. The sunroof still works.....One weird thing though. I was parked in the garage and went inside the house for maybe 20 min, when I came out, all the windows and the sunroof was rolled down? I was like WTF?? And I don't have my key fob reprogrammed at all, and I have Comfort Access......

TIA

see if the unit works through the cig lighter...why not do it through the glove box? Super easy and no splicing...

Always a puzzler when the gremlins pop up their little troublesome heads!

So we need to troubleshoot the problem a bit I think. Plug the v1 into the lighter to eliminate the unit itself from the list of potential problems.

If the v1 comes on, and you said the sunroof works, then the problem is with the wiring.

I forget, is there a separate fuse you can check when you install the v1 like this?

If there is, then check it. If it's fine or if there isn't a fuse to check (we know the sunroof works) then the problem is in the wires themselves. In which case you can rewire it.

Good stuff. Once upon a time, I tore apart my computer trying to figure out why it didn't turn on... after 3 hours, I finally realized that the power supply wasn't plugged into the wall

Moral of the story, start from the beginning before trying to tear apart your car.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm gonna open up the headliner and just take a look. It's fairly easy....

Has there been cases where the Valentine One shorted?
