I need some clarification
I purchased the Vader Solutions MAP sensor adapter to run a 1/4" line to my bov. I was told by Omar at VS to use a 1/8" npt to 1/4" barb fitting.
What I'm not understanding is why use the 1/8" npt when that's the same ID as stock? How would using 1/4" line benefit? I've tried doing some research and coming up with different results. Some people are using 1/8" npt to 1/4" barb and others are using 1/4" to 1/4". Which makes more sense. |

Generally speaking, a pressure measurement line will read the same value regardless of the diameter of the sample tube. Since there is “no” flow, a 1/8” line vs 1/4” line will not make a difference.
If one end is NPT (national pipe thread taper) then that means something gets threaded in. This sizing is a “trade size” and not directly indicative of the internal or outer diameter of your rubber line. You’ll want to match the sizes of the hose barbs to the rubber lines, and match the sizes of the threaded ends to the threaded holes. I have no experience with Vader Solutions or BOVs on these cars, but I’m an engineer and do stuff like this all the time. |
