maybe they're using YOUR car to power said "Tokyo Car". 300HP wont do much for an ocean-going freighter

Customs took 15 days to clear. It was the most painful part

Wow that is painful. How much longer before it will arrive to your dealer from the vpc center?

Did you do ED, or did it take this long for an ordered car? I thought that ED cars took longer because they are considered "pre-owned" or something like that by customs, whereas cars that come straight from the factory usually get cleared en-masse. Perhaps they pull a random car out of the lot and check it?

My car's still at the Preparation Center. SUCKS that it's only 40 miles from where I live and it's been there since Nov 6th. Anticipation is killing me.

Yes, mine was an ED. Sucks that I'm about to make the 4th lease payment on the car and only drove it for 4 days. BMW covered the 2nd payment though....

So it got to the port on 11/6, and at the dealership on 11/27.

If you were given your VIN or a Build Sheet when the order was confirmed, you would have known it was a South African built car (I have one).
Interestingly, the ship, the Sunshine Ace, was docked today in Baltimore (it has already left) and is now on its way to Charelston. It is on track to transfer through the Panama Canal on December 8th.

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...010:28:45%20PM

The ship is blazing along at alomst 19 knots! That's pretty fast for a ship of its size that can carry 6,500 cars. I guess it's about right considering the ship is only about a year old.

The dealer and I are hoping for the car to be at the dealer and ready for pick-up on December 23rd.

So, in the end, if all stays on schedule, it will have taken a shade over 2.5 months from order to get the car. Total time one th boat will be about 37 days (long trip to the West Coast).

I should add, the car was purchased thru the Military Sales program...different priority handling than US dealer purchase (?)

29 DEC update: Delivered to dealer this AM...pick up this afternoon (!!) I deferred the wash and detail so I can slap some Zaino on it.
