I used Ahead Nero And just opened the ISO and burned it at the slowest speed. Worked for me.

Used FreeISOBurner and DVR+R and burned at 48x. Worked like a champ!

I burned the west map on Dynex dvd and it worked for about 2 weeks and than it had hard time being read.
I'm using Sony dvd now and it seems Sony work faster/better. we shall see in long term...... |

I'll try this tonight. My girlfriend just picked up a 2007 328xi and has an old ass nav CD. I'll download, then burn to my DVD-R using Nero. Then pop it in. Anything else I should know?
I wish this worked on my 09 M3. Looks like the dealer is the only place to update those maps. Grr..

Just a heads up. My 2008 drive worked with a verbatim branded 16x DVD-R, but was slow and seeked a lot. Changing to a 16x verbatim brand DVD+R fixed it. Read performance is now identical to the OEM '09 DVD.
If you are having problems with the drive seeking, try a different brand of disk... maybe even switch between +/-. Burning it slower or faster probably won't make much of a difference. Burning it on another drive, however, might work. P.S. If anyone cares, i'll pull the media codes off the disks.... but my x360 experience leads me to believe that final performance probably has more to do with the burn plan on your particular DVD drive for that media. |

Burned disks
I burned a couple times on -r but could not get it to work. After getting the wait five mins message, it would keep asking for the disk.
I burned it to a +r and it works ok now, but it seems slow to calc the route at times, other times it is ok. May try a different brand of burnner / blank disk. |

Let me know if you keep having problems, I can burn you a copy of my 2011, Region 1 DVD, w/ camera's and speed traps. I use Verbatim DVD-R 4.7 GB 16X speed and have "0" issues. Email me, spydeputy@gmail.com. |

That's a myth that somehow refuses to die on the internet. The burning speed is very unlikely to make much of a difference (based on pretty much every media scan test I've seen). Furthermore, it's not necessarily true that slower will be better.

i think it might go back to years ago when we were just burning CD's and got error messages at burning at max speeds then.

Is the 2011 version available yet at the dealers for the hard drive based Nav systems?
Thanks, Rick

Thanks everyone for re-upping and reseeding Worked the first time on a Verbatim DVD+R burned on 6X in a 2006 330i.
Anyone else notice the dates on the files for this '2011' nav disc are March, 2010? I wish BMW/TeleAtlas would streamline the process so we get more recent map & POI data |

So I tried several times to get the Pro DVD's to burn with no luck. Ended up ordering them from this guy http://www.bmwnavmaps.com/ for fairly cheap and worked like a charm. Really helpful, too. Just figured I'd pass it on in case someone else was having issues too. This was hassle free and got them 3 days later.
I just wish he sold the HIGH version too :| |
