Painted my own kidney grills

Well hopefully i did it right. Followed the right steps (sanded, primed, and coated multiple times. Pics are below from when it was stock, then painted and after it dries in a couple of hours there will be an installed pic. Well hope you enjoy and thought i would share with the e9x crowd .

I did this as well. but with the outer ring. The paint looked really crappy. I ended up buying a matte pair for 60 bucks.

If you're only going to paint the slats, then its worth painting yourself.

If you plan on painting the outer ring too then you're better off buying another pair

i painted everything (outer chrome ring and the fins gloss black) i sanded the hell out of the chrome, it still looks shiny on the pic but with enough coats (4 coats) it turned out "wet black" looks good right now, give it another 30 mins and ill post the installed pics

Yeah. I kinda half assed my paint job. lol

I always had this thing where the paint would turn white when it rained. so when it was wet, the grilles had white splotches all over them. But they cleared up once they dried up.

I hope the same thing doesnt happen to you

Either way... The crappy black looked way better than the chrome

Haaaaail yeaaah it does. I'm thinking about picking up some legit grilles from JG because my spraypaint is chipping.
