Need tires mounted and balanced in Fayetteville. Anyone know of a good shop that will not destroy my wheels?

I take mine to Bimmer Performance Center for out of warranty work. Not sure if they do installs like this but I would definitely check with them. http://bimmerperformancecenter.com

Does anyone else know of a shop that actually does suspension work that doesnt charge an arm and a leg for labor...


Now correct me if im wrong, however from what i've been told it should take about 3 hours to install a set of coilovers....

If that IS true, then why are shops with all the tools needed,etc trying to charge me 7-10 HOURS of labor just to install a set of coilovers..? wtf?

I did a set at my house in 4 hours. It shouldn't cost more then 500 for it to be installed. I would take the time for a DIY. It's easy, just a little time consuming.

Looking for a reputable shop near asheville to do a custom alignment on my 335i after I install lowering springs. Basically just want max even camber in front, around -1 rear, and the rest OEM specs. suggestions?

I received quotes ranging from 450-600 just for installation. Not including alignment. That's an additional 100-150 bucks.

Where the hell have people been getting their work done for like 300 bucks??

Anyone got a good rec for 18" winter tires that they use(d) in NC?

I know it doesn't get too cold/snow very much here but my old all-season run flats (stock Potenzas) were horrible at times last year and I don't want to be slipping and sliding again when trying to make a Cook Out run especially now that I have Michelin PSS summers.

Thinking of buying these Blizzak LM-60s (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=779421)..

I've been in Raleigh for 10 years, 7 or 8 of those with a BMW 3-Series, and I never once ran winter tires. For a couple years I had all-season Falkens on my e36 and then I ran summer tires all year long for the next 4 or 5 years. And no problems. I've had my e92 since February with Hankook V12s and I had zero problems so far. If you really want a winter tire, I'd go with an all-season. No need for a full-on winter tire here.

^agree, I ran the same tires all last winter. Had no problems at all. Little traction issues here and there if I drove it hard but overall nothing worth getting a whole new set of tires for.

Hmm, do you guys have other cars that you use? Everytime it snowed the car was terrible to drive. Maybe the stock Potenzas were just particularly bad all-seasons. If we had a second car it would have been ok but two of us share a car and commute each day so lots of driving so I'd rather stay safe especially now that I have summers.

Sometimes we take the wife's FWD wagon. But I drive my car every day to work. As long as you take it easy you'll be fine. I just don't think it snows enough to warrant full-on winter tires. The Falkens I had were great. And we have Continental Extreme-Contact DWS on the wagon … another great all-season.

I've been in middle NC for about 7 years driving one or another 3-series over that time.
I've always had all-weather. The very VERY few times it snowed, (once a year? --- for a quarter of an inch???), the roads were all brine sprayed and sanded, and the interstates totally OK after 2-3 hours of everybody driving on them.

We only get about 2 weeks of really cold winter weather here, and that is typically broken into two cold snaps, with some 60-70 dF weather in between. <shrug>.

If you do get snow tires, you might as well get some air-wrenches to help you swap out the tires every 4-5 days, as the temp jumps up and down.

Stock run flats are horrible in general. I would recommend to never get those once they are done.

Go with some Continental Extreme Contact DWS non RFT. Highly recommended(by me) for all season and light snow. Wet performance is superb as well.
