FRM Footwell Module

I was doing some maintenance on the car this weekend and disconnected the battery, once the work was done i reconnected the battery and had a code pop up (CDAB). I noticed the windows were no longer working, dash lights wont turn on, turn signals, angel eyes and a few other things weren't functioning. I researched the code and found it to be a fault with the module, likely caused by the battery being disconnected.

My question is can it be re-coded or does it need to be replaced?
From what i can gather the FRM3 can be re-coded and doesnt need to be replaced but am not sure if i have FRM 1,2 or 3

Car is 2010 LCI 335i (n54)

Really odd that the FRM module would no respond after a battery disconnection and reconnection.
Is the battery fully charged? Low battery voltage can do throw all sorts of code mayhem at you.
Also fuses in the glove box would be another place to check.

Just pull the frm out, it will have it printed on the label.
Or at least pull the trim off so you can see it.

If you have an FRM3, it is known to be flakey and crap out without warning.

Can't be recovered with WinKFP. It'll be cheaper to replace with a second hand one off eBay than try and recover it. Paying someone to fix it in labour, or trying to purchase the programmer to reflash it would both cost more than the $100 for a spare unit.

You'll need to get an FRM3 as that will be the easiest to fit.

The FRM2 can work but youd literally have to manually go through all the hundreds of coding options and check each value is correct. Default VO coding it wont give you the correct coding values.

Cant see any FRM3 on eBay locally here in Aus.
I was able to get the faulty one in my car re-coded locally for fairly cheap.
Everything is back up an working now to my relief.
I guess to avoid this happening again i wont be disconnecting the battery...
If these things crap out this easily im surprised BMW Australia doesn't have recall on them like in North America

There was never a Recall. BMW North America provided an extended 8 year warranty.

My FRM seems to have crapped out. Haven't pulled it out yet to see which version it is, but I'll do that and hopefully get it re-coded. Does anyone have the details of a shop in Sydney or Australia who will do it for a reasonable price? Or are there any members here who do it?

Hi guys,
I changed my cam cover gasket over the weekend and disconnected the battery... Well same thing here, frm module failure when I connected it back up.
I want to do it myself but long wait to get tools, does anyone know where in brisbane it can be fixed and approx price?
I see there is the guy in Melbourne but it will take a while to get there and back.
I can't believe that bmw makes these parts that with just a battery change fails.

Hi, what was the price to fix it? And is there any warranty if it does it again?
The other thing that I don't understand is to remove and send it away I have to disconnect it, what stops it doing it again when I reconnect it?
